Why would you care of their wishes. Broker paying you, not the shipper directly. It's not your headache what desire they got. If loaf must be tarped this should be agreed on rate con. In cases like this rate con should be revised with new $

they wanted to tarp this for who knows what reason , i know i agreed to it , but this is a ####ty move on their parts since this load was irregular on was most likely to damage the tarps

*I drove thru a scrap metal pile over and over til all my tires were flat, how do I get broker to pay for new tires?*

*I dragged my trailer into a low bridge: how do I get broker to pay for trailer?*

*I hit truck in truckstop and rip off his hood: how do I get broker to pay for my insurance increase?*

Look for these and other threads in the new sub forum “I don’t know what I’m doing: how can I blame someone else?”

So your poor tarping ripped your tarps and you want someone else to pay?
Here's a hint. Get the tarps repaired (there is a good, current thread in the flatbed forum) and learn how to tarp and not put holes in it.
Or simply refuse the load when you get there.....

don't take this wrong, but they had a reason, they wanted it done.

I tell them up front, it is X and if they don't like the price, then I tell them "make an offer" and go from there. I tell the customer that it takes time and I mean a lot of time to protect the tarps as much as the traps protect the product so that means money. A lot of the time I can talk them out of it.

And yet 1,000's of flatbedders tarp irregular freight on a daily basis and manage to not put holes in their tarps....
You will never get better until you realise that yes, your poor tarping ability (and not having the proper padding is included there) is the issue, nothing else is.
