Yes you should switch but to where? Maybe this company/job you described still isn't the answer. I too have grown tired of Crete and I've only been there 2 years range (3 years at prior carrier). They have many good aspects but...just why can't any of these companies strive to be the "trucker's choice" they could change a few things and become close to a perfect company. Maybe I'm not saying it clearly, been searching for my trucking nirvana and coming to the conclusion it does not exist (some of that because laws regulations of course is not company's fault).

I'm a darn good driver, love the OTR grind, good skills, drive hard day or night. Would consider going local, regional, or anything, maybe even make a little less money.... I've talked to hundreds of drivers and companies and must be looking in the wrong places for my dream company.

Sorry to hijack the thread somewhat, hope its connected. And if anyone has a suggestion for me or Tucker, by all means...

I used to do this same exact sort of run between Clovis and Perryton TX and Clovis and Willard. Nothing like getting paid .41/mile plus loading pay when loading one dairy a night. It also made every 16-20 hours, so I didn't have to worry about the dairy dumping milk all that much.
Closest thing I'm gunning for now is linehaul with either ODFL or Central Freight.
Going from $1200/week on a single dairy run, to $800/week doing 3-4 dairies a night blows in extreme ways. More work for less money.

I'm not endorsing your cheap choice of job switch, but I think your current company is poopy.

Yes, I used the word poopy.

I'm not sure if it's that cheap, 500 miles times .37 and the 15.75 an hour for loading and unloading . Puts it around 215 dollars a day.
That's around 20 bucks plus an hour.

It's not like I live in LA or New York where the cost of living is high.
Ideally I'd love to run national OTR, but that's rare these days

National, as in all over the place? Have you thought of FCC?

I was waiting for snack bar to review them...
I had a run in with one of their drivers this summer, I wanted him to stop so I could kick his ###, but he wouldn't stop.
I've talk to some of their drivers out in Oregon, they seemed like a good company

I'm going back to Webber because they run a lot of out west. But you'd be taking a bit of a pay cut if you went there. They are great with their time off tho. 2 days home for 7 out.

I would go with FCC if they hired out of Michigan, and I had a few more months in the seat.

Not to mention those pnuematic pumps are a good way to lose a finger or three. I showed up for orientation at a food grade pnuematic tank outfit out in PA one time awhile back and couldn't get the he*l out of there fast enough when it finally dawned on me what I was going to be expected to do and for how much.

I would see if Crete can get you a regional fleet and stay with them. Just my 2 cents
