You do not need to have bull gear done if its not 08-11 anything after that they have their problems like injectors but not bull gears, 13-14 have a problem with idler gear for power steering pump.

I sold a d12 2006 Volvo with 1.7 million never rebuilt and it’s still running to this day by the owner
    Definitely bulletproof
I bought a Volvo d13 from arrow and it blew up withn 2 months and instead of getting sued they took it back

I would gladly take the d12 nothing can damage that engine, the power is not all there like the other one but longevity wise nothing in that year range that will outrun that engine, i deal with d13 on daily basis and these engines are made to break if not one thing always something else. what kind of truck r u looking for and what is the price range you want to be at i have 4 customer that are looking to sell trucks, just give me some ideas what milage year $$$ you are looking for see if something will be a fit for u.

Hey Nasriza, what do you think the best year D13's are? My mechanic always tells me I got in the sweet spot with my 2015. I know for a fact I wouldn't own an 07-13 or so of any make, and he says the newer D13's, 2017 or so and newer, are turning out to be a lot more trouble too because the OEM parts are weaker.

i would say best years to own would be 15-16 so far not big fan of 17 and newer. see a lot of stupid issues with them.

There are few guys locally who had a whole fleet of 16's. Were pretty happy with them and then exchanged them all for 2021.
Have all sorts of problems, saying that only 30% of them don't really break down, the rest are frequent shop visitors

Only thing i have seen with 16 is very few of them drop a valve very slim compared to everything else even aftertreatment seems to be doing better.
