    Quote in the article:

"and provide U.S. trucking companies the opportunity to expand their business into our nation's third largest trading partner." Endquote

So does this means U.S. trucking companies can establish businesses in Mexico, hire Mexican workers, and starting on Labor day they will be allowed to drive anywhere in the states? :biggrin_25521:

It certainly can't mean that U.S. drivers are now rejoicing over the ability to drive into Mexico :biggrin_25523:

Man I am so motivated to drive those big rigs, but should I wait a year and see how this pans out? I have heard either that it is nothing to worry about or that it will ruin the industry. I don't really know what to think about it.

That quote really scared me though. What the heck was that about???? :biggrin_2556:

Hopfrog, with this news, I am choosing to wait it out for about a year. Although I am getting close to the crossroads to choose whether or not to drive, this Mexican driver issue, IMO, wil change the landscape and not necessarily for the better. In my small way, a letter will go out to my elected reps.

American drivers probably aren't going to be driving into Mexico. Although the agreement says that they CAN, the companies will probably just have the Mexican driver do it anyway so they don't have to pay the American driver's wages.

I'm going to wait and see as well. The way the law is written, they will only be able to transport international loads, not domestic. A simple change in the rules though and next thing you know they'll be putting the American trucker out of work just like they have the American carpenter, factory worker, etc. Of course, the American trucker who picks up loads on the border now will soon be out of work.

I also predict alien and drug smuggling is about to go through the roof.

alien and drug smuggling will only be the beginning. The issues of terrorism, homeland security issues, and the like will be impacted by this ruling. Our back is now more open to the people who want to harm us.
