Should I wait to transfer license over to new state in order to gain more experience?

My wife and I just relocated to Nevada from Georgia because she got a great job offer working in the medical field. I told my FM that we were moving to Nevada and he told me if I wanted to continue working for the company I cant transfer my license to the new state because of taxes and that the company has no yards on the West Coast.

The issue I'm having is I been with this company for 6 months now. I was trying to hold out until I hit 1year with this company. But I don't want to look like a job hopper to other companies if I quit after 6 months. Do I just hold off for another 6-7 months on transferring my license for experience? The wife says I should hold off for another 6 months because she's afraid that I'm going to be out of work for 2 months trying to find a local job.

I already have 3 +years of OTR driving experience, plus 1yr of tanker experience. I also have a auto restriction on my license. I was planning on transferring my license over to Nevada, get a permit to take the test in a manual. But I have to wait 2 weeks before I'm able take the DMV test. Lot of the local jobs out here been denying me because of this restriction.

Didn't you post about this a few months ago?
You can switch your cdl to Nevada if you have a legal address here.
Didn't I give you a list of companies in Nevada?
Did you settle in Las Vegas, Reno or where?

What would happen if you keep your Georgia license, but get rid of the auto restriction? Just until you get your year?

I would ask for someone above him to talk to, don't mess with your CDL, the state requires you to change it when you live there so change it.

EDIT - what the hell do they mean about taxes?

That's as stupid as what I heard from a shipper about only using a Kansas based carrier because of taxes.

We settled in Vegas, I applied to a few companies you told me about but most of them said no because of this restriction.

How about removing the restriction and taking one of those NV jobs? I'm more against hopping jobs than many people, but changing to a job you keep for the next 5 years is a good reason to switch jobs. Make sure your next company is a long-term choice.

I’m guessing because Georgia has state taxes and Nevada doesn’t?
