I called a few companies for general info and they said i need a permit before i come out to the cdl training. Should i fill out the apps first to see if i get hired before i spend the $70 and get the permit? Who knows maybe i won't get hired for some freak reason and throw away $70 I don't have a criminal record I have a clean driving record so i don't see why I shouldn't get hired.
Should i wait ?

Also even to get permit FL DMV checked my basic background (aka no tickets , warrants etc.) . Some people lie a lot, and company still have to pay for background check.
P.S. where you live that DMV charge you 70$ for permit? I paid only $6.25 in Florida .
GET A LICENSE it might be 75 , but that price you have to pay AFTER you passed all exams -
Since you're clean driving and criminal record, get the permit. Trucking will change your life. You will get your money for nuthin and your chicks for free!

If $75 is too big of an investment, maybe you should wait.
I am saying that because you are entering into a Profession. Not just a job. To succeed in any profession you must take risks. Many folks go to College and invest time and money with no promise of a future. Do you have enough balls to risk $75? This is a hard business for hard workers and risk takers. -
Yes spend the 70 and get the permit, it is worth it.

akfisher Thanks this.

Get the permit. No matter what school you go to they will be impressed that you already have it. Plus it will save you hassle and time at school.
Only thing is if you don't have the medical card yet you will probably have to get that as well. -
This use to be a profession. Now every man and his dog can get a licence and work for peanuts. Since when do professionals make $30000 a year? Trucking nowadays is a job.
Tac-Lift Thanks this. -
