No. You made a commitment to be a professional at all times whether you're in the truck or not. Dope is the sacrifice you had to make for this life.
Should we be able to use cannabis on our time off?

Exactly......can't have it both ways....if you think the people are truly responsible for their choices, and don't need government intervention, then it needs to be all or nothing. There's regs on everything, because collectively, we don't act right and can't be trusted.roshea and andrewsdad Thank this.

Someone saying, 'it's the law' isn't an educated answer, it's just a zombie mindset. If someone asked you in 1850, 'why is slavery acceptable?' and you said, 'it's the law', that'd be a weak argument backed with zero critical thinking. Also, you can ask honest questions while also being biased and having your own opinion. If I ask you, 'do you prefer chips ahoy or Oreos?' and you say, 'Oreos'. Is it not acceptable for me to ask, 'but isn't the crunch from chips ahoy more satisfying?'. You also ignored the fact people were twisting my question and accusing me of driving while intoxicated, which is worse than having an option on the subject I brought up. Why don't you say anything to them? Could it be because you've been propagandized into believing cannabis is a schedule 1 drug like heroin and are completely against my position?Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

Do you believe the same should be done with all mind altering substances, including alcohol?
-
I understand your point about current legality and I appreciate you being cordial on the matter, but what I'd like to know is your personal opinion on the matter. If you had the power to change the system, would you allow for the consumption of cannabis in the cab after a long day of driving and/or consumption of cannabis when away from the truck?Tb0n3 Thanks this.

I’m a former drug addict. Cocaine,Liquor,Cannabis were my drugs of choice. I’m clean and sober no cocaine, no alcohol, just vape THC occasionally and that’s really a medicinal thing. Not driving commercially anymore and don’t miss it a bit.
Liquor did me the most personal harm, Cocaine probably did the worst for my health.
Marijuana I have no problem being legal, as it has medical benefits with minimal health consequences. Though there are definitely people who do it morning noon and night that shouldn’t be driving an e scooter let alone a big rig. That’s not the norm with it though. Most just prefer it to alcohol as it has no hang over effect.
I’ve done most every drug at one point so I base my opinion of experience and not after school specials or reefer madness type propaganda.
I agree with much of what you’re saying but as @bryan21384 said you’re pumping from a dry well trying to have that conversation here.andrewsdad, Phoenix Heavy Haul, Gearjammin' Penguin and 3 others Thank this. -
You would still be written up if they find it.

I was going to stop responding, but maybe, someone will benefit.
Sept 19, 1981 was the last time I had a drink or a drug. My using spanned 18 years. I'm now clean and sober for 41 years +. I don't have any compulsion to use. What I continue to struggle with is the results of the mental and emotional damage, thankfully not as powerful as it was, but it's still there and I have to do certain things daily to keep the damage in check. It's been a looonnng time, but I used to contemplate eating a bullet as a way to win.
Yall do what you like. I'll stay away from any mood altering chemicals because I don't think I can do this again. None of them are
NOT harmful.Last edited: Apr 9, 2023
