Where is the hose showing wear? What indications were there that the clamp was going to fail? If there is no visable issues why would the shop change out hoses or clamps?
having a spare clamp on the truck would have been helpful. pull over, replace bad clamp.... on my way
When I was driving almost every time my tractor had a PM done it was while I was on home time. However I always tried to keep a small notebook of things (not really safety related) like a loose clamp or needing a can of lube etc etc listed on it. When I got to my home terminal and suspected a PM was going to be done I also got my stuff put up and cleared off my bunk and right seat. I would then write up any issues that needed to be looked at. Then most important go (CHECK) these things when I got back to make sure they were actually fixed! This subject works hand in hand with these post/pre trip inspection threads. The APU on my Volvo would burn oil about a 1/2 qt a month. I always carried a half gallon with me. However it is not realistic to expect a mechanic and/or shop to find and fix every single defect on your tractor. must be proactive when it comes to keeping your tractor running safely.
