A big thanks to the Melton driver at Donas in Washington. that helped me out sliding my 5th wheel. I was over on my drives and was having trouble getting it slid far enough forward without hitting the headache rack. Thanks a gain!
Shout out to Melton driver!

Was the landing gear down?
double yellow Thanks this. -
Yes the landing gear was down. The trailer was loaded. The load was 6' 3'' over the front. I have a shorter wheel base than the truck that loaded the trailer. We met there to switch trailers. I was trying to get it close enough to move some weight to the steers. But not so close it would hit my rack when I turned. Then weighed . then still needed to move it two more. Sometimes its not easy to slide a inch or two at a time. It was very cool for him to help me out.

Sweet, we don't have any sliding anything. I'd be lost with that, we help everyone, I even helped tmc fold tarps while waiting and he said his own guys don't even.
-
i've had a few guys help me fold mine. only seen one guy that didn't get help. he musta had an attitude.
course, tarps have always been my biggest attitude. -
I think what you'll find as you go to various places and meet other drivers is that most are willing to help. Today I was sitting at the dock and the next one became open and a driver was about to back into a difficult spot. I just got out and helped guide him in. He appreciated my help.
We are professional drivers. That's what we do. Help the guy next to you and you'll get it back. Maybe not today or tomorrow but at some point.
Most drivers know this. Some don't. I doesn't hurt to be friendly and pay it forward -
That's part of our job, or it should be, since "the highway is our home", right ? Especially trucking.

I think this sense of camaraderie is only really alive among us open deckers. Especially in the specialty side of open deck.
My first time pulling an RGN i had a back load of salt spreaders heading for the Montana DOT. A 4x4 exploded causing the load to shift and it was already loaded hanging off the back about a foot originally. I pulled into some random no name truck stop in SD. I struggled with it for a couple minutes before the driver of the truck next to me came over.
He was pulling a 13 axle RGN for Combined Transport. Asked if i wanted some help and i obviously obliged. He had a massive excavator weighing over 100k. He also had a 20 ton bottle jack which he used to lift up my load, but neither of us had the proper dunnage to replace the piece. As we discuss alternatives another RGN driver with a OD combine pulls in and comes over to see what's going on. He ends up having a 4x4 i can use. He won't let me give him a dime for it and takes off shortly after.
I spent the next 4 hours learning just about everything i know about RGN's now from the 13 axle RGN Combined Transport driver. He wouldn't let me even buy him a cup of coffee for all the knowledge he shared with me.
My company never told me anything about an RGN besides to go hook up to it and where to drop the load at. The trailer was preloaded so i didn't learn how to unhook the front until later on when i was by myself.bobtrucks2204 Thanks this.
