I've been itching to take my 53' reefer on this route. I see it is not marked as a designated route for vehicles with STAA dimensions between Show Low & Globe. Does this mean it's illegal to take this route without a local delivery?

I took that road US-60 from Show Low, AZ to Globe, AZ a few days ago. It's a good road. I pulled a 53 ft van but only had 25-30k in the trailer. I would never hesitate to take it again. It's a good road. The steepest climbs & descents are not very long. There are a couple of brake heck areas if you want to let the cars get around you.

I used to run it weekly when I lived in Phoenix. Wish I had the opportunity to run it again...

I did it weeks ago with a condo KW T680 pulling a 53 ft van or reefer. It was no big deal, especially if you read and obey the advisory speeds in the slow corners.

It's windy into The Salt River Canyon. And steep.
You can just Jake your way down in 5th or 6th gear.

I've taken beer back to Globe from Denver. You'll see the flatbeds coming up to 40 from the mine.

But I take 17 all the time. It's a few miles longer, but much easier drive.
