44,000 on my spread and I was at my 14 1/4 hour for the day. I completely forgot about this scalehouse
I am only 2.3 miles from the Petro in West Memphis
I can't leave until the load is legal. I received two warnings this evening
I have 7 steel round billets.
Bills tell me the load weighs nearly 44,000 lbs.
Each billet weighs about 6285 lbs each (44k/7)
Each billet is 21' long. Each foot weighs almost 300 lbs.
300x7=2100 lbs per each foot I move the billets forward.
Based on that information, each billet needs to be moved 2' to the front.
My gross is 76,400.
I have many extra chains and binders.
What would MacGyver do?

I wish I had a come-a-long right about now
I have my work cut out for me tomorrow. Does anyone want to earn breakfast at the Petro?![]()

What about unhooking the 5th wheel and running a chain somewhere on the.truck. put the landing gear down and just move forward enough so the truck is still supporting the trailer. Backup, tighten up the chain and do it again until you get them moved. Ton of work but cheaper then a wrecker!
Hope you get it figured out driver.bullhaulerswife, botoler, SHC and 1 other person Thank this. -
Can you get a permit?
-
I wonder if a overweight permit would work

I would need one for Arkansas and Oklahoma. -
permits don't allow for heavy axles. he needs 2 more axles to be legal.
permits allow you to go heavier, but the axle still has to be legal. and 3 axles only gives him LEGALLY 43,500. according the weight charts i've been given so far.
good luck with the chain. i tried that and got nowhere. the chain just kept sliding.
DON'T FORGET TO LOOSEN YOUR LOAD OR YOU'LL DEFENITLY BE WASTING YOUR TIME.BAYOU Thanks this. -
I may be able to wrap a chain around the fifth wheel and drag one billet at a time. Hmmm...
The problem is that I have a step and a flying chain might be difficult to catch.
Too bad I can't slide my front axle to the rear. -
Still run the risk of tearing up the landing gear. Bad idea.
Doubt it. It's a divisable load. What's your gross? -
if he released his trailer brakes. and maybe chocked the tires. the landing gear shouldn't move very much. but i could still see damage happening.
-
Gross is about 76,400. I thought about the permit earlier, but didn't seriously consider it
-
Loosen the chains, roll forward to about 10mph, then brake hard. They'll slide.
SHC Thanks this.
