I was thinking the same thing. I built wall out of my extra 4x4s in front of the billets. I wonder if I moved my wall 2' forward and with ample application of the brakes.......Hmmm.

Lay those 4x4s on the tail with the end of each one against a billet, then back against the scale house wall to push them forward?
SHC, Hammer166, camels76 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Move them with your chains, using the binders as come-alongs. It will take some time, as you will only be able to move them the short amount your binders give you. The landing gear is designed to hold the front of the trailer up and isn't strong enough to support a lateral movement and could collapse.
botoler, terrylamar and Meltom Thank this. -
I'd give real money to see the look on the DOT officers' faces when 35 tons of steel come crashing through their back wall.

Call a local wrecker service with a medium duty wrecker , loosen the binders one at a time , it may cost a little but much cheaper than getting a fine and getting points on your CSA. I would never unhitch. Landing legs can and will crack even if it does not this time eventually they can have a problem. Just look at it as a lesson learned for next time around . You should also weigh it after you get it all bound down again before the wrecker leaves if you go that route. Hope it works out for you and be careful not to get in between the load while the wrecker is pulling it , its not worth getting pinned. Just take your time . Good luck kiddo .
Joetro Thanks this. -
Ok I never said to put the gear on the ground, keep them off the ground enough to not drag. Maybe 1/2 inch or so. The gear wont touch the ground if your careful enough. Or if you wanted to try it without unlatching your 5th wheel, do you have a sliding 5th wheel? Look for a good spot to secure the chain to on the frame.

i once had to move a 56,000lb windmill hub foward 2 ft..... used 1 half in chain and binder on 1 side, and 1 on the other. took 2 hrs, but got it done. i dont think you'll be able to move em without getting a wrecker or some other peice of equiptment

Call a wrecker, any of these other home grown ideas are just asking for trailer/cargo damage. Chalk it up to a lesson learned the hard way.
BAYOU, MichianaFlat, haycarter and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why did you not scale it, when you loaded? 4,000 over on the spread and over hours, on your 14. You think Mercer loves you now, they will really love you if you try one of those hair brained ideas, to move the load and screw something up. Like Oscar said, do it right, you got enough problems, already.
haycarter, BAYOU, passingthru69 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just out of curiosity here could you order an OW permit while your around back at the chicken house? If it were allowed and you only had a few states to go it would more than likely be less expensive and easier than getting a wrecker out there, etc...
