Free and a pile of crap.........I build high end computers for a hobby and have been working with them since the days of Windows 3.1 and a 486/66. Dont believe what I say about MS new Av software, look at some top ten Anti-virus reviews on the internet and let me know where their free AV software stands, I would say somewhere in the bottom 20. Just because its free doesn't mean its going to protect your computer, but then again some people have to find out the hard way.:biggrin_25525:

It's been out two days. Kind of early to make a judgment I would say.

My first computer was a TRS-80. I used to buy my software in book form, where you laid the book down next to the computer and copied 40-50 pages of BASIC code into the computer so you could play a Pong clone. We saved our work with a cassette tape recorder. My first PC was a Commodore Colt running MS-DOS 3.2.

It had 2 5 1/4" floppy drives and a whopping 640k of ram. No hard drive. I could have gotten a 10 megabyte hard drive added to it, but it would have added another $500 on to the $2000 it cost. It had a state of the art graphics card in it. CGA, FOUR colors!

My 486/66 mghz was probably my 9th or 10th computer. The day I brought it home I deleted Windows 3.1 and installed Desqview/X
Which at the time was a far superior product than Win 3.1.

Still think I'm uneducated about computers?

I had that system as well. It had some cool cartridge games, well cool for the time period. The BASIC was different than the Commodore 64's which is what all my friends had at the time. You couldn't get a modem for it like you could the Commodore either. I remember watching two of my buddies chatting over modems back in 1983 and thinking it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. We've come a heck of a long way when you think about it. If that blew my mind back then, just think if I could go back in time and hand my former self the cell phone in my pocket.

That'd just get me in trouble with mom. When I brought home a pager, she gasped and said, "Only drug dealers have those!" :biggrin_2559:

I remember when the 56k's first came out. We thought it was the greatest thing ever. I used to play with my friend's computers all the time. I didn't get my own until I finally had some extra cash in 99. Got a 400mhz from a pawnshop that I put up with for about a week before trading it in on the latest 800mhz slot A. Well, maybe not the latest, but I thought it was awesome.

That thing slowly grew into a tower with over 3TB of space and two laptops. Never have gotten around to building one of those glowing gamer rigs. There's always something else eating my cash.
