eating on the road is rough, I was on the mcdonanlds/jack in the crack/carls jr/heart attack road for alot of years, now Im type 2 diabetic and on pills, changed my stuff around and trimmed the diet
mcd's jack in the box and subway all make good salads, cut out the fries and breads, KFC is great, you can usually just buy chicken for a buck a piece, skip the meal with the biscuit and sides, el pollo loco also does alot of good chicken. If you end up at the iron skillet then they have just a soup and salad buffet option. and if youre shutting down for the night then skipping dinner can save on the waistline and save you money also, just save it for a good breakfast like steak and eggs from all the dinner cash you save.
walmart has alot of prepackaged meats, buy sodas there(diet pepsi is my bag), jugs of water, cans of nuts, if you have a fridge then get deli meats and cheeses, bags of carrots, beef jerky. the most important thing is cut the carbs and sugars out.
when I park for my 10 if weather permits I go for a walk atleast around the truck stop for 30+ minutes and shake the kinks out, or even strike out into the streets and stroll thru the neighborhood if the area is decent. walmart and sporting goods stores sell resistance straps if you want to get a workout right in the truck plus they have dumbell sets that clip on more or less weight in 1 dumbell set so its compact and store under the bunk.
15 years of trucking and this is what i try to stick with. hope it helps.Motownfire, rocknsand and Civilservant Thank this. -

I still have some work to do on my diet, but I have made great strides from 4 years ago when I'd eat a box of cookies and drink a 2L bottle of root beer a day. It's an ongoing process, but the results speak for themselves! -

Lately when I'm home I'll cook a roast in the crock pot and then chop it up, put it in a container and carry some wheat bread, put a little Miracle Whip on it with some pickle relish and have a nice sandwich. 1 roast will last me all week. I also have some canned fruit and other things in the truck. If I don't take a roast along, I carry tuna packets and eat that instead.

They are trying to rebrand HFCS as Corn Sugar now because of all the negative associated with it. I have a friend of that is a college biology professor that has really looked into this stuff. She is doing everything she can to rid it from her household because it's so bad for you. One thing she told me that stuck out is that it's basically an industrial product. The process to manufacture it is more involved than refining gasoline. Pretty nuts if you ask me.

I have an APU and inverter, so I have a microwave, Foreman grille and crockpot. It's made life a lot easier out here -
