Schneider doesn't have APUs as of when i spoke to them 8 months ago.
They are a cheap company, cheap slow trucks and pay you cheaply.Moving Forward Thanks this. -
Let me help you with a short story. Recently I was pulling out of the sch. yard and was stopped for the first time for an vehicle inspection from sch. employees. No problem, I'm all for safety and I don't want to be hassled by DOT. The problem is this made me late to the shipper which was a short distance away. I have a 100% on time delivery rate. This load was delivered on time as well.
I had my arse chewed over the phone. Talked down to like a child and was told I have a service failure on record. One hour late to shipper. Not sure but you may get more respect at Roehl. Hope this helps. -
Quote(inspection from sch. employees )Quote! Was it company employees that inspected you? I personally would not take that kind of talking to from a dispatcher (abuse) if I had no control over the situation. That inspection was not under your control no different than a blown tire is. I would either have a personal discussion with that dispatcher or go straight to the supervisor. It would be healthier to the dispatcher if I went to the supervisor.
When during the inspection, why didn't you call dispatch and let them know of the delay? JUST ASKING ,as that was a long inspection if you were late by an hour. -
Company employees did the inspection. In fairness they did find something that I thought could have been addressed when I dropped the trailer off. Per company rules I must let them know one hour before the appointment. The inspection was within one hour of the appointment. Since I cannot travel back in time it was too late when I sent the message. not sure if I would win this battle but I did want to discuss it with a supervised sines the dispatcher was combative and accusatory. requested the contact info. Since the dispatcher knows I'm going over his head I am worried about retaliation. (Fewer miles) feedback is appreciated. May start a new thread as not to hijack this one.
I got caught up in the inspection and called after. Yes, looking back I should have sent message 30 min earlier. Like I said not sure id win this one. Still think it's BS. I would have been on time without the surprise inspection.Last edited: Jul 12, 2014

The problem is that you expect perfect communications during a holiday and if you are so critical at this point in your new career, hate to see what it would be like when you are dealing with serious issues while on the road.
If you are desperate for money, don't wait, take a job and not worry about it. If you want to work for the pumpkin or who ever, then move there later.
I did some contract work with them a while ago, they were not cheap like a few other companies but I also know what cheap is from experience.
When you hit a snag, especially one that involved internal inspections, get other people involved.Handog Thanks this. -
As I said, the appointment was just miles away. Impossible to give them one hour notice at that point. I'll chalk this up to a learning experience. Thanks

We can find all kinds of excuses and lay blame of why didn't they do this or didn't do that. These things are learned by each driver by due process and experience and communications.Sometimes the hard way.
One learns that a phone call handles it or using the eobr. Each driver is different and so is every company.
A learning experience along with the thousands of other things that go along with trucking. It takes time and it is not learned in a couple of years nor in the CDL school. A time and place for 90 degree back or the 45 or straight. Every situation is different . Blind side is the worst of all but very seldom is needed to avoid delay or to simply deliver or pickup the load. That is a decision that the driver has to make. The driver has to weigh the options, the safety factors and above all his or her skills and abilities prior to attempting it.
I understand how difficult is is to be making several attempts to back in and the pull ups give you cause to be embarrassed. Thinking your being watched by drivers with more time in the seat and better backing skills does tend to make one nervous.
That is where the problem begins. When you get concerned about being watched your not concentrating on the job at hand and it improves the possibility of an incident. We all had our first day. Unfortunately too many drivers have forgotten that day and ridicule others...
The day you stop learning or think you know it all is the day you need to turn in the keys and walk away.Handog Thanks this. -

You have to call in yourself for the conference call with Schneider. At least I did. They should have given you a number to call.
