Flatbed.......I mentioned your experience out of respect. I admire it. I'm not arguing with you I was merely having a conversation with you. Your post had value and a good point in my opinion and I was attempting to further the discussion.
Any insult or argument that you read into my post to you was all in your view, it was never in my post or my intent.

Think how hard it would have been to do all of what you did up to now without the INTERNET or other modes of Modern Technology.

Doc, I too am a newbie to the forum and are going through some of the same things you are. While some members may seem a bit "harsh", most of them are trying to help in their own way. TTR is an incredible resource that can help us newbies make informed decisions. I suggest that you compile a list of companies that you are most interested in, and then read everything you can about those companies in the Company DAC Reports on TTR. That will not give you all the information you need about "company x" but it will give you a general idea about how that company treats their drivers.
I wish you the best of luck as you begin your trucking career! -
I've started a couple of threads with specific newb questions - one about a specific problem I had with twisted tire chains on my farm tractor, because I figured I might encounter this out on the road in a truck, and another about transportation to and from a terminal when a person lives in a remote location. I made sure my questions were specific, and got really helpful answers. Problem solved, a couple less things to worry about.
I can tell from a lot of questions posted here that the poster has done NO reading before posting it, as the question has been discussed and answered a hundred times before. I've also seen questions posted that leave me wondering "how in the hell could anyone answer that, it's a decision you need to make yourself, or maybe call your mommy and ask her!". Then there are those that come from the person that jumped right into the deep end of the pool, and wants swimming lessons as they are going under.
Take your time, read a lot, try to see if your question has been answered before, and if you need to start a new thread, be specific and clear about what you're asking. There are plenty of people that will make an extra effort to help you out. If you get rubbed the wrong way here, I expect you may have a tough time out in the real world where it's not words on a page, but an actual human being yelling through your cell phone, or right in your face!Rerun8963, Dionysus, GoneButNotForgotten and 2 others Thank this. -
Communications might have put the dispatcher in the cab with you, but there was a time, before cellphones and Internet, when "Find a payphone, and call me when you're empty." was the order of the day.
I remember my first trip to Italy. No clue where I was going, no-one to ask and scared to death. The "help" that I did get consisted of horror stories at Macon truckstop about how the descent from the Mont Blanc tunnel was a killer, and how I'd be lucky to get to the bottom of the mountain alive. The relief when the trailer was empty is a feeling I'll never forget. -
Yes your BROKE DOWN macro was 1 of the other guys telling the boss 4 days later that he saw you on the side of such & such at mile marker 280 3 days ago and it looked like the bottom end was laying behind the tractor.

I have found that the majority of people on the forum are very helpful and willing to answer posts. The very few I have seen that arent, I ignore. Simple as that. I dont post much, but I have read alot of the forum that would be of interest to me personally and as I said in another thread, Im a serial thanker. lol.. Rerun, Nana, Injun & Chrome to name a very few (I know there are a whole lot more) are some of THE very BEST at giving info, insight, wisdom and a touch of humor with thier WTF are you thinking answers. When I grow up I want to be just like them...hahahahaha
So, please try to ignore the bad and enjoy the good.....Everybody be safe....Rerun8963 Thanks this. -
So Rerun gave him excellent, FREE advice and that is how the guy showed his thanks! You may want to throw some apologies his way or you may not be getting anymore advice. Show some respect for the kind people on this site who are taking the time to share their knowledge and experiences with you. They are on this site to specifically help "YOU"! If they are throwing some jokes around feel free to take part. If you don't like the advice they give you thank them and go somewhere else!
I have no problem helping any of you and love doing so but mind your manners!
(insert joke here)
#### Rerun, haven't you ever heard of customer service? The customer is always right!
Rerun8963 and just lil me Thank this.
