That engine / transmission mount job is the same on all trucks. Has nothing to do with Paccar. New or old…. Same job

Well most trucks it doesn’t take 3 days to change an engine mount, that is insane. Most trucks I’m familiar with it’s a 2 hour job at most for a novice mechanic such as myself, and they are Paccar products such as a 379 and W9.

Things are a little more packed in there than on a 379 or w900, your sitting on the #### engine in a new truck, they are harder to work on and space to get things done is non existant

Rideandrepair, SL3406 and 77fib77 Thank this.

Honestly, if anything, I'd say that the switch to automated transmissions has only made the problem worse. We can't fix the cause of these problems by training them away or removing whoever proves to be untrainable anymore. Now it's all down to whether the computer doing the shifting is working correctly, and there's not a #### thing the driver can do about it. The control over whether the truck is being shifted properly isn't a 10-level (operator) problem anymore... it's now a 20-level (maintainer), 30-level (calibrator), or even 40-level (manufacturer) problem, depending on how severe the failure is.

And yes, I had to refresh my memory as to who handles what level of maintenance for Army equipment in order to put that on paper properly. Once one gets out, they may retain the attitude, but the knowledge definitely starts to degrade after a while.

Right because there's only 3 right?...the two on the sides towards the rear and the one up front on the "cross member".

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Same job, but some require significantly more labor.
