I'm going to go OTR solo at the end of this year. I'm very excited just thinking about all of the different states I will be driving through. What are some of your favorites places to see as far as sight seeing??

I80, Donner pass and near SLC, you can see the Salt Flats.
I84 along the columbia river, that is a beautiful ride.
I10 going into Cali, you go through the Wind Farm, very cool sight!
US23(I26) through VA into TN and NC, US64 through TN to NC (trucks not allowed!, so what?) I think Rt 126 (can't remember exactly) from Springfield,OR to Sisters, one Hell of a beautiful route.

And that's just scratching the surface, there are tons of beautiful rides out there, have fun!

I've never been able to get enough of the mountains in Colorado. Whether it is up across US 40, I-70, US 50 mid state, US 160 across the bottom of the state, it really doesn't matter. It is all just gorgeous. The winter driving can be a little hairy, but it's still beautiful.

I also enjoy running across the NM, AZ and CA deserts. Seems like everywhere has something to look at. I've never understood folks who can pass through the countryside and be bored.

Yeah, we usually leave here around 2am, and by the time the suns up, we are pretty close to Colorado. :biggrin_2559:

And that's what an Un-Governed truck is for, too!
If I had to cross that state at 65mph I'd kill myself!

Being from Texas where you can stand on flat land and see for 30 miles. I enjoyed driving thru I-70 west of Denver in my RV. It was so awe inspiring that my Dad and I stopped midway and camped, then went back towards Denver and re-started the drive thru the mountain range with the videocam on a tripod taking video of the roadtrip and catching all of mine and Dads comments as we were seeing things we had never seen before.
I know to some people mountains dont mean much, but to us,they are a work of God's art. Me and dad could hold conversations about mountains and valleys for hours..I've never done it in a truck, but would love to try it at least once in my life. So for now I'll stay on my pick up route and live my trucking dream thru what I read on here..thx to all you OTR truckers for what you do and write..
