Is this the type of game CR England is playing? I am going to orientation on Monday Aug 30th and I really want to go out on the road and start trucking. Unfortunately, because of a minor accident I had with my previous employer, TMC, mostly all the companies out there want nothing to do with me for the next 3 years. USA Truck and CR England are the only 2 that are willing to accept me right now. The only problem with USA Truck is that they don't have orientation dates available at this moment because they have a shortage of trainers. And I'm tired of waiting. I want to work. I want to start driving. I want to get this show on the road. That's why I've decided to go with CR England. Now I have noticed that there are a few drivers out there that suck it up for 6 months (or 1yr) and move on to greener pastures. And that's what I plan on doing. I'll put up and deal w/ the suck. My only concern is will they give me the boot way before those 6 months for not accepting their lease program. I hope not. I have no problem being a company driver and I have no problem working in teams. And I also don't have a problem with dealing w/ the suck. My only problem is the lease program. I hope this lease program will not get in the way of gaining my 6mth-1yr experience so I can move on to better places.

the way it "has worked" at cr england is that you go with a driver trainer for whatever amount of time. then after that trainer, you get to go with another, and his job is to convince you that leasing is the best thing since sliced bread and you should "act now" or lose out on a greet deal.........

problem here though, is the 'great deal" is for cr england, NOT you, as they will have another dummy to pay off thier truck.

you DO NOT have to become a lease operator, you CAN be an ordinary driver. but every so often, they will want to "talk to you" about your future......

"Phew!" So maybe they won't kick me out for not wanting any part of their lease program. That's good to know. Thanks for your response Rerun.

i'm so glad that i found this website because i would have never found out about these crap things the companies do. i was all for going to a lease to purchase program. not an icecubes chance in hell. i never even could have thought some of these trucking companies were such pieces of crap. i've been driving local for about 3 years and probably the worst things i've ever dealt with was maybe bad hours and a crappy truck. cant believe some of these companies that screw you.

It does seem like a cut-throat industry for newbies but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel. After that 1yr of experience, I have a pretty good feeling that it'll get a whole lot better, especially once we recover from this recession.:biggrin_255:

it is cut throat and once they know ( big companies) know they have by the short and curlies they stick it to ya. Not all companies are like that and alot of drivers do it to themselves. But keep your eyes and ears open dont just believe what they tell you. Pay attention and you'll be ok. trucking is NOT a get rich quick job like recruiters say. It WILL be tough on you but is NOT impossible

thanx ....I've felt that way for a long long time.......Trucking isnt easy but it isnt impossible either. I in no way want to discourage anyone from becoming a trucker I just want you to know the truth about what I've seen. And I've seen nothing in comparrison to what some of the old hands around here. I've learned alot on this forum and on the road by keeping my mouth shut ( not always easy to do ) and listening. And the older hands will always try to help someone that they think is respectful of their exp. and not just some billy big rigger type who thinks he knows it all. Be safe out there, pay attention, and pay even more attention and you'll be fine. If ya ever need advice use the forum, there are great search features and alot of awesome drivers here that are more than willing to give a new guy the info they need. You may not really want the advice once you get it and you may not like it either but remember you asked for it!!!

I was told that if you don't lease they stick you in a team. They aren't hiring solo company drivers. However you said you didn't have a problem teaming so that shouldn't be a problem for you.

When I asked about the pet policy, (they don't allow pets) the recruiter told me if I leased I could bring my dog. :biggrin_25523:

So I guess there won't be any problems, aside from all the crap I have to deal with, but that's OK. I'm a firm believer that we have to start at the bottom and work our way up. And nothing is given to you, it's earned. With hard work and perseverance, you can get through anything. Thanks for your response.
