Per the CR website....options at Crash & Roll England upon completion of your training at their grist mill academy:

    • You can lease your own truck and become an Independent Contractor running your own business.
    • You can become a trainer and almost double your income.
    • You can remain as a second seat with an independent contractor at 13 cents a mile and continued company benefits.
Too bad they don't have option #4....shoot yourself in the foot with a nail gun loaded with rusty nails. I think that would be the best option out of all!! :biggrin_25523:

Take your blinders off! These are not your only options. These are just the options that are paying your school to tell you that! There are over 450,000 trucking companies in the US. You managed to find two of the crapshoots! What makes you think that getting hired on with a company that is going to force you to lease is a good decision? STAY AWAY from these mega-carriers and you will have a prosperous trucking career. Go with these companies and 6 months from now you will come back to this post offering this very same info to other newbies about to embark on the same path/mistake. Stick with your smaller companies. Go for the ones that are not advertising. These are the companies with low driver turnover rates which in-turn means their drivers are happier working for them. They will probably be a little more lenient on your technacalities. Are they going to be a little tougher getting hired on? Sure will, but this is what makes it worth it. Patience and perserveirance and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Sorry not trying to sound negative I am just really tired of seeing new guys that put forth a lot of money and are trying to better themselves and their families, get taken advantage of by these companies that just run cheap inexperienced guys until the crash or can't hack their crap anymore. Then they blemish your DAC so you can't go anywhere else. As far as leasing a truck, put that on the back burner until you have driven for a couple of years. By the time you have enough experience to do so it really isn't going to make sense to you. Good luck. Do your research.
