You want to hear the ironic part of that SAR? I HAD one in the passenger side window. Forgot all about it until the wrecker came. The ONE thing that jerk in the wrecker did that was positive was as he was sitting in the drivers seat of my truck building air, he noticed the camera and mentioned it as I was standing on what was left of the passenger side step. I was elated at that second...thinking I have this made in the shade now...a VIDEO! I even showed the giant DOT cop that I had it and he was all tickled too.

Got to the tow yard office and we plugged it in and tried downloading the footage...but everything prior to the impact recorded up until about an hour before the impact...we tried and tried to retrieve that file, but couldn't open it.

I brought the camera to a computer geek shop in town the next day to see if they could get it to open...but no luck. He explained that because I only had a 15mb memory card in it, and the camera continually records in a loop...that every so often it erases the previous data and that goes into a "slack space". Well, unfortunately at that critical time of the accident, the camera was doing just that. What a bummer. If only I had that footage, I'd request a trial and haul that camera out of my pocket immediately after that jerk that is accusing me of causing him to crash lied on the stand...then wait for the response. What a shame I can't get that footage.

What it did teach me is, to invest in a better camera with 360* vision and more memory. Since the accident I've been helping out part time driving a company truck for the guy I'm leased to and I'm squirmish to say the least every time a car gets anywhere near me and decides to cut over in front of me now. Yesterday I had a couple dummies in front of me almost wreck as they almost bumped into each other changing lanes as I was minding my own business loaded with oil again...I got a flashback and got scared, genuinely scared. Can't be having that happen to me many more times.
