So I signed on with rail today, Im supposed to complete there physical shortly and then everything should be good pending my CDL A graduation.

I have a question as far as the pay rate, I was offered .32$ for a van OTR job.

In the offer letter is stipulates "one cent is for accident free miles and the rest is your choice pay plan rate."

Can someone break this down for me and explain how the accident miles work and also what a "your choice pay plan" is?

One cent is your bonus for driving accident-free and continuing to do so. You would lose that for 90 days should you have an accident. So if you were to have a preventable accident, your rate would go down to 31 cents (or one cent less than whatever you are making at the time) for that period.

You'll learn more about the Your Choice plan once you start with the company. That doesn't start until you have six months with the company though. At least, that was the way it was when I started with them last March.

There is also a Roehl area on this forum website: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/roehl/

I was a little curious how the one cent for accident free miles worked too.

I did applied with them about a week ago. So far I had not heard from them. Cheryl, one of the recruiter just emailed me a letter and said would be calling me back. How long it took for them to contact you back?

Shes my recruiter as well, Really nice lady, she seemed to give me everything straight forward. She has to complete your bachground check among any other qualifications you listed such as prior work employment.

She sent me an email stating that my background was clean and that they would like to hire me, it was about 3 days after I originally spoke with her....after that she will send you an offering letter and go over some preliminary questions such as the drug test which includes a hair sample..

    Hope that helps

So, Mniesen89, Roehl is hiring in Florida as well? DO they have Terminal down there? If yes, where?
My wife and I we are planning to MAYBE move to Tampa... - I applied to MBM for their driver position in Lakeland... Let's see what happens.

Tampa wouldnt be a good choice for Roehl as their terminal is in Jacksonville. Its about a 4 hour drive from Tampa to Jax.

I dont know if there still hiring in florida but they did hire me....its hit or miss honestly, I had applied about 2 times but they had no openings, I apply again a month later and then they excepted me.

If you have no preventable accidents for that quarter, they will pay you a bonus of 1cpm for all miles driven. If you have a passport and can drive in Canada.

If not it's .05 cpm bonus.

It's my understanding that's the way it used to work before the current system. But now it's 1cpm for miles driven, as you drive them. You do not have to wait for the end of the quarter.

That was my understanding, and then if you do get into an accident, then the 1 cpm goes away for 90 days.
