There could be a lot of reasons why his check doesn't match his pay. He might need to change his per diem option or he might not get paid for empty miles. Also, the company I work for doesn't pay for actual miles, we use a program called PC miler that counts practical miles. Sometimes it works out to less miles on the pay check, sometimes it works out to more.
Also, direct deposit should not take that long to show up. It is electronic, so as soon as the company deposits it into your bank, it should become available.
The other questions you have, I don't have much experience with so I don't want to offer advice on that, but good luck!

If he's getting .31 cpm and averaging 2000 miles per week, he'd be bringing home maybe $500 per week.
If you think him being gone for a month at a time is not worth that kind of money, he either needs to hang in there for a year or find another profession. -
Yes companies don't count military experience that's why he is paid so low, and even though he was a trucker before the military it isn't recent enough to get paid for those years. After a year he may be able to get a few more cents at other companies but he should stay where he is for at least 6months unless they are stealing from him.
What company does he work for. I think it sounds shady that they say DD will take that long. Also as the person said. He has to get his trips in b4 pay cut off. That means empty bills signed and transfloed or trip pac expressed which ever they use. If not that last trip will be on the next pay check.
Also some companies if he have lumper charges will take that out of his pay and then reimburse it with the receipt. But if the lumper receipt isn't turned in on time. They still take that out his pay until they receive the recipt. That happens a lot on multiple stop loads in which one day he delivers the first part of the load. The pay ends that day, but his 2nd stop is the next day so he can't trip pack the trip he hasn't finished so. He won't get reimbursed for that lumper charge until the next week. While at the same time he will be short on his pay. -
He works at May Trucking Company

May takes money out of if he goes over there idle percentage. So you might have to ask him about that.

i know this wasnt the point but i cant get over the part of 33 years in military and little ones at home
God Bless Him
I had my last one at 40 and that was 10 years too late
Dad was 45 when he threw the last one out -
with a miltary pension you would think he could find a $500/week job and be at home
-
And what did she say about a generator payment? A what? For what?
Wow! May takes money? Your money as a co. driver for over Idle? I believe there's a law against that.......... or there should be.......

I was 25 yrs. military, and for many of us it's very hard to unwind after a fast paced life with no set hours; so trucking fits the bill. I tried the 9-5 type jobs and almost went crazy. OTR was the only thing that could keep me calm & sane.
