Silly question, I hope.

I had a minor accident about 2 months ago when a guy did a 4 lane blind crossing and it resulted in me bumping the car in front of my pickup. Property damage is under 400 dollars. Will this keep me from being employed? This is the only mark on my record at all. No tickets or anything. The accident was so minor that the person I hit did not even feel the need to call the cops and she drove the car for weeks before getting it fixed.

Not sure what you are saying. How did you hit the car in front of you unless he was the guy who cut 4 lanes? Or did he cut in front of the car you hit? If he was the one that cut in front of you I would say no problem. If not they will look at that as you were following too close and did not leave room to react. Do you have a CDL yet? A big truck needs a lot more room to stop than a pick up.

I start school (privately paid) on the 15th of December. The exact situation was this: I am merging on a congested road. Traffic is still running about 45 mph. I check my mirror and start to merge left. About 5 or 6 cars up, as I was told, this guy runs across 4 lanes causing a chain reaction of locked up tires. I hit my brakes and bumped the car in front of me. I was also hit from behind but they got my trailer hitch and did no damage. The car had a scuffed bumper and Allstate sent the check out for the initial estimate on 11-25, a whopping $89.36.

I got a call from Werner and they wanted documentation from my insurance company about the severity of the collision. They initially wanted a police report but alas, none was ever written.

I know not to follow too close. :D You know that sometimes you end up too close for a short time while merging in traffic though. I have driven dump trucks before so I always slow down to let the gap grow.

Anytime you rearend someone, trucking co's will say you were following to close and did not leave an out. This is not saying that people won't cut you off and put you in a bind. I think you will still be employable, but it won't help your cause either. Good luck, keep us posted.

No report No problem, As far as your MVR it never happened so treat it like it never happened when applying for a driver position

One problem. This person develops whip lash....:biggrin_2554: Insurance info has already been exchanged. A slick lawyer drags this into court. Um boss I need to be in court. The co finds you withheld info on a accident.... bye bye,,,:biggrin_2554:

The lady was uninjured. I even paid for her copay to go see a doctor. I didn't want any surprises. She was a very nice elderly lady and I was doing things how I was raised. Be respectful of your elders, as I was taught.

I was literally going 2mph faster than her when we touched. Any suggestions as to how you would avoid that situation while merging? Maybe I missed something in my pondering?

PS. I put the accident on my apps so far. I may be many things. A womanizer (if that term is even used anymore), a hot head, even a jerk depending who you ask, but I am no liar.
