I live a mile away from Simbeck depot and see them trucks every day, most of them are old. I'm not sure about pay, but I know 1 guy who worked for them. He quit after 4 month with them and came back to JB Hunt because they didn't maintain his truck good. His truck was Volvo late 90th looks like junk.

I have worked for Simbeck a total of six times. I was at Werner, J. B. Hunt, Bynum and a host of others. I always came back to Simbeck because if you want it, they will run you. They expect you to give them your best. If you do, they will give you their best. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I now live way, way out West where they do not run. Just so happens, I got a call form them yesterday, asking me to come back. But I can't. I have it far, far too good out here in NV to go back and start over...

Used to work for a O/O out of Winchester by the name of Lilly Trucking, when anyone wanted a job with a dirty record or did not care how the equipment was cared for they went to them.

Back then they hauled plastic out of Winchester, Va and mostly teams then, but now that was some time ago. I almost went to them and decided my driving record and safety came before the needs of Simbeck.

I, too, worked for Lilly. I was there for ten days in February 1996. This company cared ZERO for the log regs. I was teamed with a young man who was building a house. He wanted to be back in the Winchester area quite badly. Seemed as if the job was interfering with the construction of his home. We left some place down in Georgia with him at the wheel. He drove for hours and hours. Then it was my turn to drive. I drove 90 minutes, then we stopped, he jumped back into the seat and drove for hours on end again. He drove about 18-19 hours all the way from somewhere in deep southern Georgia to Columbus, OH, slept that 90 minutes, then drove again all the way to Appleton, Wisconsin. He put his driving on my logbook-- a definite no-no. I looked at that and decided Lilly was not the place for me. When we got back to Winchester, I called-in and said I had found another job. I hadn't, but that was beside the point. I started with Simbeck on February 23, 1998. My truck was an old, IH, low-roof cabover. But I kept at the job. I was upgraded to a T-600 low-roof (#3663) in April '98, then to a very nice FLD-120 double-bunk (#9204) in April '99. Just goes to show you: If you do a good job and give it your best, Simbeck will reciprocate. Too many drivers want to start at the top and work up. It ain't like that, kids. You gotta prove you can do the job before you get the gravy. I ran so much (all of it legal, too) that I got the nice truck ahead of others who had been there longer than me. They were not pleased. Well, too bad. I eventually was selected to run scrap shrinkwrap from the East Coast out to TREX in Fernley, NV in October 2000. I got a look at the wide open spaces out here (where I can shoot my big target rifle 1,000 yards just five miles from my house) and moved here in September 2002. I have nothing but good things to say about Simbeck. They have always done very well by me.

According to the Safer Website, Simbeck has been cited 14 times already this year for defective equipment.

I can't make comment either way on that. My latest departure from there was on February 17, 2006. Lots o' things can change in six years. A citation can be as small as a clearance light being out or as large as a tire and wheel missing from an axle. It all depends on the severity of the citation. For as bad as anyone might think Simbeck is, I'm sure there are companies far, far worse...

I have been around the block a few times. Simbeck did not tear the trucks up the people driving them did the damage.Trucks do not run into or over things drivers do.Like the other guy said about having a light out, some of this stuff is just crazy. Instead of looking at safety violations maybe some one should start looking at stupid dirving events.why do these so called professional drivers destroy everything they touch. Just like in a truck stop when you are backing into a parking spot, why does some pro have to run behind you,why do you run around truck stops like you are driving a sports car I goota stop this stuff drives me up a wall.
