Im looking for some ideas on a simple contract. Something that's between myself and drivers that I hire. Any ideas or samples out there.
Thanks in advance

"Contract" for what? To nickle and dime the drivers?

25% of the gross, Including FSC, 1% to health ins, and 30.00 to load and 30.00 to tarp. Budget .85 to run the truck .50 for labor, inc WC, and employer requirments for payroll. If ypu can get 7.5 mpg and stay put pf the highway shops, you should be OK. They can break you faster than than can make you a proffit, and most of them dont get it. Leased trucks work better in the long run.

Sounds like a fracking operation. They can set alot loaded waiting to be called to the well. ND operations have seen rate reductions due to over capacity. I was in WV fracking country 2weeks ago and some of the contract carriers ( leased and company trucks )sitting on the lot, are starting to get concerned about the time it is taking to get paid.

I had my contracts written by a lawyer and here is why - every state is different, every situation for the owner is different and I found out boiler plate contracts open both the owner and the driver up to litigation if they are poorly written or not reviewed by a lawyer.
Once you have a good contract that fits your business needs, then when you hire a driver, go through the entire thing with them. If there is a clause that isn't applicable, then cross it off and BOTH of you initial it. He gets a copy (I have seen a lot of owners who refuse to give a copy to a driver) and you have a copy which has the same things cross off and the same initials.FLATBED Thanks this. -
I did the same as Ridgline that way your better protect in this day of LAWSUITS

Only a lawyer can help you, no contract is enforceable unless it is legally binding. A day contract can be unenforceable to include opening up a can of worms.
