I have read all the threads docked what to pack and I am sure I am not going to be overloaded. But in searching about Boots I did not find an answer to my question as relates to Prime. Do we need boots? If so do they need to be steel toed? I have boots that are OSHA compliant for the work I do as a pole climber but they are not steel toed.
Simple Prime Packing ?

Prime has a store on campus where you can get just about everything you need. This store sells boots, atlas, rain gear, jackets, gloves and much more.
Besides your paperwork, the only thing you should bring from home is clothes. Some jeans to get dirty and shorts (it's been 100+ all week here), and you want to bring a sleeping bag.CadetTrucker Thanks this. -
Thanks seebs I got the pack light not a problem here. I plan on picking up the atlas and some stuff there. But, My one question is abut boots and do they need to be steel toed or not. I have a great pair of boots and would rather not shell out $ on a pair unless they have to be steel toed as my current are not.

You don't need boots for school.
If you decide to go flatbed though, getting boots would be smart down the road. -
In flatbed or tanker division you'd need steel toed boots. If you drive a reefer, its very optional. The company pays for lumpers - and discourages you from lumping your own freight. That's mostly because of a increase in workman's comp claims that they had a few years ago.

If it helps any, Hubby has regular work boots that he always wears and his trainer wears sandles

As an instructor, I would prefer you wear tennis shoes. I have too many problems with student wearing clodhoppers. They have too many issues controlling the throttle and clutch.....

Hi grumpygroundhog...
Thanks for the info on shoes.
I have deck shoes and a pair of hiking shoes (they're actually like study tennis shoes, with a higher top) that I plan on bringing, plus a pair of sandals (can't wear flip-flops, they bother my toes). Think that'll be ok? -
Shower clogs... unless you plan on living with terminal athelete's foot.
