It can be done when enough information is presented to describe the expense.

However, with meals, it usually is something that has to be disclosed on the 2106 identifying the dot exclusion.

Did it provide a separate comment?

It simply asked if I worked in a field the DOT exclusion applied IE Transportation. After everything was entered, it said the form was not needed. But I could submit one if I wanted.

It gave the reason. But again, I didn't read it thoroughly.

    Looking through my actual return...

It included a Section 179 Expense report, a carry over worksheet, and 2106 supporting documents. But not the actual 2106

Oh well, if they come get me. the end result will be the same...they owe me LMAO. Or did...I got my money.

    You answered it there.

    Form 2106 supporting document.

It means that there was comment on the return that satisfied the requirement.

Turbotax was always good for doing that. It was one of the reasons I stopped using their program.

I would rather have the form supplied and not have the question arise. It is not illegal and will not send up a red flag. You can sleep tonight and not worry about g-men.:yes2557:

Another question I have about taxes is that I am forced to take per diem at the company im at now. So come tax time next year is there any thing I can write off, im assuming you can still write off all expenses im just guessing I cant do anything for the meal expenses right?

Keep track of days you are eligible for perdiem . Companies will underpay you because they can be fined if they overpay . The form asks you if you were eligible for perdiem and the amount . They will then ask if you were reimbursed and how much . If you were eligible for $7,000 and the company paid you $6,500 you can deduct $500 .

Roadmedic, here is my scenario. I was a company driver and they automatically figured per Diem days and the amount. It was listed on my settlements, which were every two weeks. I just started to do my taxes and surprise surprise they shorted me almost two thousand dollars.

I had been keeping track of my days out, and home. I
Logged 58,234 miles, over 180 days. Home time 18.5 days, 161.5 days out, lost 12 days while out due to 34 hr restart-9.5 days on the road off duty-two days mechanical break down.
I stopped in at home during some trips for my 8 or 10 hr. They highly promoted family time as much and as often as possible even if it was just a stop/sleep over. I have a young family. Even though I was out during all the other hours on these days including most meals. How can I correct the discrepancy between my logs and from my issued W2?
