Hello guys,
My name is Troy, and I worked for owner operator Gord Sinclair, under contract to PVT Energy Group based out Grande Prarie, AB. His Farm is based in Bigstone, AB.
I worked for this guy for 3 weeks, was let go and have still not received any money since 2 months. I was working a 3 week out 7 day per week shift, living in the bunk. We were hauling frac sand for the oilfield from a well known Sand distributor in the Grande Prarie area, to the frac sites in the Dawson Creek, BC area. I was driving his black and green Kenworth w900 and pulling a set of B trains.
He is ignoring my calls and refuses to answer my texts. All I get from at this point are scripted excuses. He is currently not even paying his other driver fairly for the work he does, including mechanical work done on the vehicle. The Truck brings in home approximately 30-40 grand a month gross based on an estimate of 30-35 dollars a ton average. 42 Tons average per trip, and 1.5-2x loads average per day. 6-7 days per week.
Avoid this operator at all costs to save you the drama, and please spread the word if you are in the area. Please find attached a photo identifying the carrier owner and his trucks.
If you would like to request more information about the scam listed, please feel free to get in touch.
Cheers,
Troy.

I should note, that I have learning difficulties which makes organization difficult. The reason I am choosing to reveal this is because I can safely say it does not impact my safety record, as I have been driving commercially for 7 years accident free, and because it also affects me in the way of social analyzations. My experiences includes alot of dangerous work such as oversized, heavy haul, logging, equipment, Household goods and delivery, inner city work in places such as Chicago, Boston, New York, PA, The South, Almost the entire eastern seaboard, the west of Canada, the rocky mountains, Coquihalla, Chinchaga forest, Remote cabins in the interior of BC, Eastern Canada. I drive safely, I drive the speed limit, and I take extra precaution on my load securement, my pre trips, weather conditions, and do not drive distracted EVER. I always make sure to leave plenty of room, while maintaining a steady pace. I am stimulated by driving trucks and that keeps me highly engaged on what is going on around me. Gord is aware that I have these issues as I had to reveal it to him to due to medications I was taking at the time. I just want to put it out there that if you have these issues, then it might also be a bad place for you. I am thinking it is not out of the realm of possibility that these traits might be being used against me. I have reason to believe so, and if proof is required, please let me know. I just feel pretty upset right now and don't know how to get what I need when everything costs so much money. The costs of living in Canada are truly PHENOMENAL. I have been working so much with just a brief intermission for a medical issue, working hard like all my fellow drivers for nowhere near enough pay. I have been trying to marry my high school sweetheart girlfriend of 8 years and have not been able to do that. I am 26 years old and these companies are making it extremely difficult for me to get ahead. We have an extremely high cost of housing, groceries are increasing, everything is going up and things like this happening are making life extremely difficult. I have reasonable demand as I'm pretty pissed at the moment
It is true that I was let go for a fair reason, but it is also true that I am owed the money that he robbed from me. I have since moved on with another carrier which is significantly better and will have me working physically for better pay. And everything paid by the hour + overtime. It feels like a professional gig.
I am just very sick and fed up with these garbage people and companies ruining our industry.
Thanks for reading,
Sincerely,
TroyLast edited: Mar 16, 2024

Terrible to have read what occurred. There is a lot of shady companies out there as of late. I'm not sure if this will help you out or not however, it might.
Canadian Trucking Alliance wants drivers to report fraudulent carriersTroyTheDriver Thanks this. -
Thanks for your reply. Just recently due to exposure of the incident on posts such as these as well as on other various social media websites, I was able to have him shoot me a text stating that my cheque was now in the mail.
This would totally be a useful resource for me in the case that the cheque does not clear or does not arrive. Thanks alot for the help and support. I am currently keeping this to a minimum until a reasonable time passes. If nothing shows up, I will definitely be pursuing this path.
Thanks again,

Thanks for the support guys.
It is really helpful and motivating to have a group of fellow drivers reach back out and show their support. I will definitely be sure to follow up with this post and keep you guys updated and in the loop.
@NorthEastTrucker Indeed, unbelievably, this is not the first time this sort of ordeal has happened to me either! However this is kind of at more of the extreme end! I have also been shorted tons of pay and have had to sit at multiple companies and earn less than the minimum cost of living. It is quite sad really, the state of affairs of this industry. But I firmly we definitely have the power to change it if we stay adamant and true to our beliefsI will definitely not shy away to expose the reputation of any unscrupulous carrier causing grief, misery and even POVERTY for our fellow drivers. We are so much better than this and it's important we stand up for what is right. I totally agree with you
I am sorry to hear that you have also been exposed to the fraudulent behaviour that lurks behind the bushes in this game. Canada definitely needs to do a better job as a nation at providing a better, safer, and fairer industry. Needless to say, glad to be joining a company with a strong union and steady pay with good benefits.
Thanks alot for sharing!Last edited: Mar 18, 2024
