After searching a while I came across this.http://www.cosjwt.com/index.php?a=20
I've had 2 shops tell me 2 different things. Shop A says co-phase is best, because you will receive better.
Shop B says go with 1 for more power, and the loss of receivabilty will not be missed.
This link shows that unless they are 9ft apart then duals are wasted.
Your thoughts.
Single antenna or co -phase

I debated this exact issue this past week and opted to stay with a single setup. Nothing really to gain with duals.

Dual antennas work, but try to keep about 9 feet of each other.
(1/4 wavelength of 27mhz is about 9 feet)
When running Duals - the antennas increase their gain forward and aft of the truck at the expense of some power to the sides... the signal to the side is about 1/2 an S unit lower....
Ensure you use a good co-phase harness designed for 27MHz CB Radio. These are usually two lengths of 75 ohm coax joined to form a single 50 ohm connection to your transceiver. Keeping the two feeder lengths exactly the same length is very important if you want to maintain some kind of symmetry of your CB Radio antenna pattern around your truck....
Of course I think dual antennas not only perform better but look great.
Looks are all that matters right?
PS. If duals are not installed correctly (cable choice and length and antenna placement) then they will not work as optimum as a single antenna can.Another Canadian driver, rabbiporkchop and DJ4wd Thank this. -
If I do it, then my trusted CB shop will do it. They will run a 2 into 1 coax, and adjust it all in for me.
The other CB shop is trying to sell me a single predator big coil antenna, however it would have to be set at an 45% angle to avoid being so high. I'm not a fan of the super flashy setups though. I can say that I do like the thicker whip though.

That's what I thought at first, then he explained that even if I had an unlimited amount of power I still would only want 1 of these. He went on to explain that they have a very good balance between length, insulation, and coil size. Not to mention they will warranty it for something crazy like 10 years. I'm not sold on the idea yet, my Pete is getting the doors redone, and the clutch adjusted, should have it back tomorrow, and Ill measure the distance between the mirrors to see if the dual setup would even work correctly.

18' of good coax (not the thin black) probably best to get it off a c.b tech because they solder the ends real good for the same price as a cheapy. Lace it like a figure 8 or string around the corners of the cab........ 2 antennas act like a garden hose shooting in 2 directions vs a single stream with one direction, however, it's believed to be able to hear better with 2 but who would want to.
