Bought a used truck, previous owner left his Sirius radio that he had installed.

To activate the radio, is it as simple as calling Sirius with the SID# and setting up account? Just curious if they will question the fact that I did not buy the radio, but someone else did and left it installed when selling me the truck.

Just make the call. Only thing you should need are the numbers off the radio. It's usually a pretty easy process.

I've been though several radios, due to them living a real hard life in my care. They have never questioned where I got them, and they all have been simple enough to activate that I have always done it in the store parking lot over a cell phone.

They like to charge a $15 activation. Argue it....

Also, prices go up 1/2012. (10%+) - Get at least a year deal and hold off some of the dam price hike.....
They have a MOSTLY MUSIC plan (they don't list on the web site easily) that is only $9.99/mo at the moment.
Sirius Select starts at $12.99/mo, which is the next plan up.

...Of course on top of that you have the typical taxes and Music Royalty charges..

    :biggrin_2554:

I just locked in a 2yr plan. It is with Sirius only, so if my radio dies I have to have another Sirius unit.
Eventhough Sirius/XM merged - they technically still remain separate. The 2yr plan with Sirius cannot
be migrated over to XM at this time..

The $12.99 plan was the one I was looking at, looks decent.

    Thats Sirius Select.
    It's a decent plan....

Get a 1 or 2 yr and you not only avoid the price increase but
you get a free month or 2 depending on the term.

its like pay for 11 get 12
    or
    pay for 22 get 24

They don't care where you got the radio unless it has been reported stolen. And even then, I think they simply can't activate it.

Once you go satellite, you won't go back. I got my XM radio back around 2001. There wasn't even a "Sirius Radio" yet. Well, there was the company I think but they weren't offering service yet.

XM had a few technical growing pains back in the day. I remember when they were still tweaking the compression ratios and weird stuff like that. At times it would sound absolutely horrible LoL. Sounds pretty good now.
