My Wife got me a new Sat receiver this Christmas. I am a guy that loves new gadgets but this one will be going back. I will keep my 10- year old model since it works like a DVR. I can record 20 or 30 six hours shows and play one back while recording another.

I use an external clamp on antenna on my truck since it still has bars going to the top of the mirror.

I just duct taped mine to fiberglass on the top of cab and ran the antenna wire door the door jamb. Was quick and been there a year. Works fine.

    That's neat technology.

Were you able to fast forward thru commercials?

    Lol.

Mind telling us the brand? It may be a cheaper option than the xm on demand streaming for the guy since its older technology.

I'm interested in it myself actually.
Recording FM radio.... Then skipping the commercials... Amazing ... Reminds me of making mix tapes lol.

It is a Sirius Sat receiver Stiletto 100 model. The car dock comes with a remote control. And yes you can forward fast past commercials manually or by a single click skipping to the end.

    Like this one.

They are getting expensive! and it seems more channels are available than this old model is able to receive. Many titles state "Only channels 1-184"

Then you apparently don't understand where the satellites are and basic geomtry lol

The fiberglass top is not as much the issue as is the trees

You can also get an Antenna perch. Remove a screw and replace it with perch-bolt or use a double bolt type like this one:

I use the clamp on Mirror mount Antenna. In a 386 so it has bars and it works great. In a T2000 and a 587 I mounted it behind the cab on the bar hiding the air line hanger... Worked fine in most areas. In a Cascadia I got the Mount for a CB Antenna and used that, once again worked pretty well.
