N OK 2 part question. Number 1 can anyone tell me which is better as far as reception goes, Sirius or xm. I use to have Sirius and got xm a while back and it seems like my reception is worse but was wondering if it was just me. Second question where do drivers who have xascadias or similar trucks mount there antennas. Which antenna are you using? I am about to the point that I am about to throw this radio out of the window. Thanks for the help in advance.

i'm pretty sure everything is siriusxm now a days. since the 2 companies have been combined at least 2 years now.
your reception problem is probably becuase of where you have your antannae mounted. looking at pic. i'm not seeing any good places. good luck with that one. -
I saw a bracket on one Cascadia a driver had it mounted on passenger door, where the blind spot mirror is mounted with the 2 screws. He had a Sat radio antenna and TV antenna. As far as reception between the 2, one has 3 satellites and one has 2. Not sure which one, but the radios do operate on different channels and satellites. They make some that operate on both as well. I'm not sure which is better, but go to howstuffworks website and search there. I read it there one day about the differences of the 2.

Try to mount it high as you can..I'm driving a 10 international prostar eagle I ran the antanae through the pillars to the cb shelf above my head than simply used duct tape to place it on the highest piece of plastic facing up. If that does not help I saw a few being glued to the mirror..

the glue doesn't hold out long though. specially in the cold winter. and reception can be lousy on the mirrors.
my last truck had a mirror hanging over the passenger door that faced the ground. that's where i stuck the antannae. reception sucked a lot of times.
the truck i'm driving now has a aluminum visor over the windshield. so now my antannae sits in front on top. not having as many problems now. -

I ran the little xm antenna out to the driver mirror on a cascadia and used HD velcro to stick it to the top of the mirror and ran it through 2 winters and countless Blue Beacons and never had any issues with it coming off and reception was as good as you can expect without it being on top of the sleeper. Most reception issues involve the particular antenna, some work better than others but with the cascadias, you have to work with what you can reasonably accomplish.
the further north and east you go, the more issues you're going to have with reception and it makes no difference if your XM or sirius. The driver side will perform better than the passenger side as this gets the antenna that much further from tree line along the shoulders. -

Thats why I get such good reception. Lol
