Just got back from a walk around the rest area. There's an old feller (older than me) rockin' a long stick. Apparently, they're not just for youngins'. Uhhh, and it's a Pete. ;)

I think the tall shifter that you can see through the windows if you are sitting in another vehicle or standing outside on the street is a certain small group
of drivers way to send a message that real drivers and trucks have manuals. I remember first seeing this around the time auto’s started being accepted in massive numbers in trucks about 10 years ago by other non truckers coming into this lifestyle from other lost jobs thinking it’s easy living and they can be millionaire drivers.
Stick stirring is a dieing art as people get lazier and want to just push a button to do everything for them

I like the drivers that do the 2 stick thing and try to impress. You know the main stick and the other stick moves fore and aft for range, splitter selection. Big strappers they are by god.

Those are different, those are the true 2 transmission trucks. The ones I am talking about are the guys that have a 18 or 13 speed transmission and put the splitter and range selector on a separate dummy stick hooked to the air valve on the transmission.

I’ve only seen one of those one time so far. An old fella that was leaving a local truck show. Three long chrome sticks.

Same here... No air in the seat and slid as far back as I can go while still having the clutch on the firewall. I do thus for 2 reasons: 1) I'm 6' tall with a 38" inseam (yeah im all legs) so it's comfortable. 2) I like to "feel" the road through the truck.

If I can't feel the road and how the truck is taking it, its like I forgot how to drive or something. I guess I just learned to drive by what the road and truck were telling me, if I cant feel that... it doesnt work. Not to mention, on stretches of road I regularly travel I can almost dodge the pot holes by instinct.

I do like about a 6 to 8 inch extension on the shifter... But yet again, I'm tall and long arms also go with the long legs.
