So far so good on the scales, been getting the green light everywhere that has Prepass.
Flatbed rates? Typical wintertime stuff, you can get a good rate if you wait for somebody who needs you bad enough. I'm on my first load this week right now, got just under $5/mi on this legal load to ATL, they absolutely had to have it here at first light and were willing to pay. -
Just want to correct you on one thing: A claim does not automatically equal a rate increase. You can call to have an adjuster look at your property anytime. If they approve the claim, it could affect your rates (unless it is an "Act of God").

About $1000.00 bucks to atl outta k-town 200 miles! Great load!
-
Insurance companies for a long time have been looking at credit reports even if it is for your personal auto they want to see if you pay your bills and that will effect your rate, have bad credit it will cost you more.
Flatbed rates aren't that great which it is the slow time for flats, Josh just got lucky.
Next time you have a little mishap at a customer like his gate or fence have them get two estimates and tell them you will pay for the damages. Two things are going to happen. 1. You will never here from them again or 2. You will receive the estimates and if the damages are low pay it if they are high then turn it into your insurance company.
I see owner operator all the time that will turn in a $1200 claim and have a $1000 deductible and wonder why their insurance goes up.
Also their is no deductible on liability claims. -
Thanks ! john,
I guess we need to be on are guard at all time! -
I just got a quote back on my liability, cargo and physical damage from Northland and my agent thought their was a mistake and double checked because it was so low. She said it had to do with no claims, driving record clean and I have excellent credit because she couldn't believe all that for $2100 a year for a 300 mile radius.
-
Wow, 300 mile radius or not, that is a great price. You thinking about going out on your own?
I definitely got lucky on the load yesterday, it was just one of those deals where they needed somebody there two hours ago, and it was also short load, about 170 miles. -
Talk about being at the right place at the right time. Yes I am working on going out on my own and just in state authority and already have the hauling in place. Found a trailer and meeting with the bank tomorrow and go from their. I am just tired of OTR and the rates then with the new government BS on the way, the only way it will work is the customers are going to need to change. I haul pipe out of Houston and I sit in the pipe yard all day with the other trucks then about 3:30 it is balls to the wall loading and then you have rush hour traffic. Then I sit most of the day on the other end waiting on my sheet rock load going south. It just gets old.

If I had enough stuff to do in a 300 mile radius, I'd be all over it. You buying a flat, or moving to something else?
