    Hello everyone!

I have a question if I’m driving 35 miles per hour in 8th gear, can I brake down to 25 mph, rev match around 1500–2000 RPM, and then shift directly into 6th gear and t's a 10-speed manual truck. How does that work? Thank you all for your help!

Could you do it. Yes. But why? Theres no reason to do that. I mean you could brake from 8th gear all the way to 5mph and rev match into first if you wanted to... But why? Just downshift.

Yes you can downshift and skip gears. To and from what gear, will depend on how the truck is geared over all. Its not all about the transmission. How the rear-end is geared, depends on the motor etc.
But yes you can skip gears when down shifting. Just gotta have everything timed.

Try it an see what your RPMs are like. Are the RPMs still in the normal range for going down the road?

If your RPMs are really low in 8th gear at 35 mph then you might could skip a gear when downshifting, but make sure you don't have to exceed the engine's governed speed in order to do so.

When you are new it's probably better to drop/advance a gear out of a time until you mentally know the road speed, gear, RPM like you know your phone number. Frankly, I rarely knew the number of the gear I was using at every moment.
