I have sleep apnea that is under full control with my bipap machine. I was wondering since I will be hitting the road soon what is the best way to power it. I would like to hook up a refrigerator, microwave, TV.DVD combo(maybe seperate) and my sleep machine. Which inverter would be best I have looked at the cobra 2575 it looks like a pretty solid inverter.

Check with the people you got your machine from and they can tell you the needed wattage to use, but the Cobra inverter you talked about should work just fine. My first cpap had a cord for 12 volt or 110.

Your best bet would be a 12v cord supplied by your machine manufacturer. Once you get into using inverters you will probably need the more expensive pure sine wave inverter. Also I think using an inverter will draw more power from your batteries. You are powering 2 devices.

i have a 150 watt innverter that i spent about 20 dollars for that powers my c pap machine just fine. I can leave the truck turned off for 12 solid hours with my c pap machine running the entire time and the truck starts up just fine in the morning. Unless you're using a humidifier, you will be fine! To be totally honest, i have never had to idle the truck for the purpose of running my machine. But i admit i will use the c pap as my excuse for idling!
FWIW, I do not know what a pure sine wave inverter is, or where you would buy one. I don't think it's necessary.

Check with your bipap supplier. I"m a CPAP user, but only use the air pump in the truck, so all I use is the 12v plug.

However, if I used the humidifier in the truck, I'd need the inverter. A pure sine wave inverter is strongly recommended. Like dave1970, I don't know the technical reasons for it. But having to do with electricity, I'm assuming it has something to do with providing the steadiest current possible, I'm not sure. But I do know that my company (Schneider) uses a particular PSW inverter recommended by the maker of the machines.

Interestingly enough,My newest c pap machine Was given to me by Schneider. I was not given an inverter by them. So i wound up buying the cheapest 1 i could afford.
This maybe a little off topic, but i do have to admit, Schneider has the best program 4 drivers with sleep apnea! Very knowledgeable and understanding.

Unfortunately, you still have to purchase the inverter from SNI, but they will install it for you. You can also pay it off in installments via payroll deduction.

All I know is that in the over 2 1/2 years I've been using it, I've never felt better!

Now if there was a DFAT mask that would take the weight off while you sleep!

    truckerdave1970 Thanks this.
