Paying $6,000 for a federally orchestrated sleep study followed by paying another $3,000 for the CPAP would be enough to give me sleep apnea.
Sleep Apnea is a big stumbling block when getting work as a truck driver

Probably a government ploy to get more immigrants into this country, to work for lower wages. I say ok to that, I want to retire anyways.Flybynight041 Thanks this.

yeah its crazy, they should be going by a fat percentage not a bmi the way they do it, there is a guy on my fleet thats categorized in the obese category because of his weight but he is solid with muscle and you can see no fat at all.Montgomery Thanks this.

Yes, as a matter of fact, that is what a lot of these "educated a wholes" want to see. Particularly the ones who are so skinny themselves that if they turn sideways and stick out their tongue, they look like a zipper. Keep in mind that these folks are a good portion of the arrogant people who think they are better than anyone else, because they run marathons, do road race or mountain biking and are convinced that they are "healthy." (Even though skinny bike riders have dropped dead of heart attacks.)
Give me physician who is a bit older, has a bit of weight on him, and has some common sense!
Health insurance? Paid a good portion of my study all of the machines I've had over the years and all of the supplies. If you don't have health insurance, then sleep apnea is only ONE of your problems, my friend!
So RETIRE ALREADY! You will LOVE IT!
(At least as long as your money and health hold out and you really can do what you want to do. Once the health is gone and the money is low, then life ain't quite so "wunnerful."

Two words...health insurance. Most trucking companies offer it for the cost of a couple Papa Johns pizza per week. My sleep study cost me $20/each. My neurologist visits cost me $20/each. My complete CPAP setup cost me under $200 (it was WELL under that...I just don't remember exactly how much). My periodic supplies (every few months) cost me about $40.
I'm without health insurance for the first time in 14 years at the moment (I should have paid to have a buffer policy in between my old company terminating and my new one picking up). Not a good feeling thinking about something happening and not having coverage. -
Have you seen health insurance plans since the ACA came out? Most aren't worth having.

care to post some examples? i have great health care and it has improved and cost about 100.00 a month less then it did 4 years ago. -
Like ezover, I'd be interested in seeing some examples. I know that there were MANY plans that sucked well before this took affect. I'd like to know what is going on now in the market place. Personally, I don't have to worry about it because of Medicare and my advantage plan.
My wife has Blue Cross through her employer, and it has not changed. -
"WASHINGTON The Obama administration on Friday unveiled data showing that many Americans with health insurance bought under the Affordable Care Act could face substantial price increases next year in some cases as much as 20 percent unless they switch plans.
The data became available just hours before the health insurance marketplace was to open to buyers seeking insurance for 2015."
