"One in three Americans has put off seeking medical treatment in 2014 due to high costs, according to Gallup — the highest percentage since Gallup began asking the question in 2001.
Thirty-three percent of Americans have delayed medical treatment for themselves or their families because of the costs they’d have to pay, according to the survey. Obamacare, of course, had promised that it would help make health care more affordable for everyone, but the number of people who can’t afford a trip to the doctor has actually risen three points since 2013, before most Obamacare provisions took effect."

OK thanks, KMac. I believe you and I were talking apples and oranges. You were talking about plans bought under ACA, where I was talking about private (employer sponsored,) plans.

I've been told that sometimes sleep apnea is one of the causes of being overweight or obese. Or at least leads to other stuff that causes it.

I probably ought to go get tested myself. I wonder if I need a referral to get one of those?

It is kind of a round-robin type thing. Being overweight can cause sleep apnea, and sleep apnea can cause weight gain. Don't know if you need a referral or not. Why not call a sleep center to find out? But do your homework on the sleep center before making an appointment. There is all kinds of info on the internet now on doctors and practices. It's well worth your while to check them out, particularly in this field that has a lot of fraud associated with it.

Hopefully you wouldn't go to a dentist or a chiropractor without checking them out first. Same thing with a sleep center.

I could honestly answer those questions the same way. However I now have a heart condition that could be caused by sleep apnea. My doctor had me do a sleep
study. They found out I have moderate to severe sleep apnea. Since being on the cpap machine I am feeling better.

Ur regular Dr can set up a sleep study... I have had 4... been on cap machine for 10 years... that doesn't mean you go tell everyone on a job app.. as long as ur on ur machine and sleep fine there is no need to tell all ur prospective employers " hey guess what I have sleep apnea "...

Ok now I have a real insight into this...
Just had to do a physical today for a great paying new local job out of the new Dayton P&G....
The nurse went over the usual 20 questions then mentioned she was going to have to measure my neck... I then told her I find it offensive and possibly discriminatory as Jews...doctors and measuring do not have a great history (For those who do not know what I mean Bing Nazi racial science) She then told me NO ONE has to do it but once one does IF the neck size is over 17 inches then they most likely will have to do a sleep study. So in short you want to avoid a ton of bs and maybe losing that license, REFUSE.

####. Only 17" triggers that? I don't know if my neck was that small back in my basic training/emaciated looking phase. And yeah...I'm struggling to think of a time when volunteering for something employment related turned out to be a good thing.
