Yeah I feel your pain Brandson. The cheapest price I've seen where I live is around $1800. You'd figure they'd be nice enough to have that price include the cost of the machine. When you do go for your study make sure its at a sleep clinic that doesn't sell the CPAP machine themselves. If they don't have a financial interest in making sure you have a CPAP machine you'll be able to trust the results of their sleep test.

No more skirting the word filter or I cut off a finger.

Xlsdraw, you were Cretes and Sleep Pointes biggest cheerleader on the necessity of the sleep study until it happened to you. The only reason that was the case was because it didn't effect you. As soon as Crete tried to pull that scam on you, you didn't take your own advice you've been giving others. You are able to get re-tested by the VA for little or no money. Whereas other people have to use Cretes benefits which are practically non-existent.
You now believe you have Sleep Apnea because the VA looked over Sleep Pointes data. I don't know if you follow the news or not but the VA has had a terrible track record of taking care of veterans for the past several years. It was a major scandal over the summer. Many veterans died because of not getting proper care. Its a comedy of errors on your part that your trusting the VA. Your going there because its cheap. Remember: You Get What You Paid For. Its easier for them to say you have it then put out any effort to re-test you.
I think having to pay a sizable amount out of pocket to get re-tested on a diagnosis that you think was wrong to begin with is a slap in the face and I view it as another way for Crete to deter people from questioning the diagnosis.
1. $3,000 for Sleep Pointe Study(Supposed amount paid for by Crete)
2. $900 for CPAP Machine
3. $900 for an Inverter
4. Up to another $2,000 to prove that $4,800 was poorly spent
Man I don't think CR England is even this cruelChewey Thanks this. -
The cost of the sleep study where i had it done was $347.00
that included the first night sleep study and second night fitting of my cpap machine.
cpap machines run $700/$800 and you can even purchase refurbished machines for less....
shop around.....
i have been an advocate of sleep studies for years...
not only because of myself but as i have stated on other threads that my wife passed away in 1999 and the doctor said she simply stopped breathing. Other than that she was healthy and not overweight and non smoker. This was before everything started coming out about sleep apnea.Wild Murphy and NavigatorWife Thank this. -

Crete does not charge you 900 dollars for an inverter, unless they have changed in the last few years.
All you do is pay for the cpap machine, lose a few days of pay, and have to deal with even more inane micro-management/overkill from crete while you use cpap.Chewey Thanks this. -
Xlsdraw, this is not conflict. This is serious discussions about whats going on at Crete and the industry as a whole. I think it was hardly fair and balanced to be okay with the sleep study until it happens to you then you immediately tendered your resignation. Not a very balanced decision and one you seem to be regretting. I think this is your THIRD thread about it. I'm trying to make sense of it all and there are other people who read these threads that need to know what goes on at Crete.
Many people get into this industry because of financial hardship. The last thing they need is more financial hardship. My brother is a respiratory therapist and he tells me these machines go for $200-$300. Crete makes their drivers buy it from them for $900. The only good that comes out of that is the driver then qualifies for a inverter in his truck......which Crete makes the driver buy from them......for $900.
I think its hardly fair and balanced of Crete to make money off of a drivers hardship.
