I saw a post on here about using inverters, If you have sleep apnea
is a company going to install a inverter for you to use your sleep machine?

I think it will depend on who you work for and Im not sure that the big companies will hire anyone with health issues anymore
-
Schneider makes good accomodations for the CPAP machine including inverters.
-
Thats good to hear for anyone needing one I was thinking that with CSA2010 that companies will start looking for that HEALTHY driver
-
It's hard to tell.
One of my driver friends just got a notice from his Carrier that he has 12 months to lose 12 pounds or he is out. He's not that far out of shape either.
I have a Health Issue and Schneider picked me up. I made full disclosure to them and they had no problem with it. So far they seem to be the most progressive in knowing that we are not all perfect, but we can all work. -
That is what im talking about I have heard more and more drivers talking about bmi ...And the csa said it wasnt going to enforce it but I heard prime is already cutting drivers that dont meet the majic numbers
-
BMI seems to be a real issue.
I have read where other new drivers have left Orientation (various employers) on the first day due to their measurment on that chart.
I do not know if this is true or not. Just saying what I have read.
The good part is that some Carriers understand that a CPAP machine does not mean you are unhealthy. It means you have an issue that, when dealt with, will not interfere with your life.
But the big question is can other Carriers see the value in healthy, yet not issue free, workers. -
I think as CSA comes online we will know whats going to happen ....I think it will just be another tool they can use to fire a driver with ...This is kinda my thought on the CPAP ....If they dont have a APU then you have to have a inverter ok then you have to idle the truck so thats costing them money and yes if i had a driver that was a GOOD driver and he needed one I wouldnt care for him running the truck but these bigger POS dont care they would rather fire you than have a GOOD driver ....But this is just my 2 cents worth ....I would much rather have someone who I can depend on to take care of my equipment and custmors than worry about a little fuel
-
I hope that it just does not turn into some sort of witch-hunt.
I start Orientation on Saturday. If this matter comes up I'll be sure to post here what I saw. -
thanks it will bw intresting at what is going on in orientation ...I am right there with you on a witch-hunt type of thing but I still think its going to hurt some good drivers
