They may not be able to legally require you to take a sleep study, but nothing to stop them refusing to hire you if you don't.

Medical card is that doctors opinion that you are physically fit to drive a cmv. Having a letter from your personal doc stating its been addressed between the two of you and they feel you are safe to drive DOES carry weight.
The symptom differential IS greater than BMI , necksize , etc. Were that the only criteria, a whole lot of "normal" weight people would slip through the cracks. So , going over all the possible symptoms with your doc is a good idea anyway IMO.
I was diagnosed prior to driving. Up until this past med card I hadnt been asked for anything despite having answered in the affirmative that I was a cpap user. Same clinic etc. This last time it was scheduled for me and THAT Dr wanted a letter from the prescribing physicain(meaning the sleep doctor) that I was being treated successfully and was safe to drive. He was relying on that doctors opinion in that and refused to accept the usgae results alone.
Remember they are putting their license on the line when they sign that card and with the new registry you could reasonably expect to see similar reactions.
Things to look for found here, note whats missing from the list....
