I havn't been able to find work around here even at McDonald so I thought I'd go to Schneider since I don't have much trucking experience. I went back had the physical and all that but was told that I couldn't continue training until I had a sleep study done. I don't have any symptoms of sleep apnea, I wake up refreshed and i don't fall asleep randomly throughout the day. I went and got a doctors referral but they're allegedly all booked up at all the sleep centers nearby until late September. I went ahead and made the appointment but still.
Is there another AMT trucking company that will hire me on despite no experience, being a male, 1.5 inches over the neckline limit and 60 pounds over on the archaic BMI system? I tried prime inc but the recruiter said they wouldn't since I've been unemployed for so long and While i'm still "employed" with schneider theyre not helping me in the least bit. I thought the mandatory sleep study was beaten out by Trump and his administration so why do I still need one?
Edit: I live near Champagne, IL plan to move to Pennsylvania eventually and have my CDL A with Passenger, Subclass B endorsements just almost no experience and limited to automatics because of my left knee. I have a years experience driving a buss, WIOA funded training at 160 Driving academy and Schneider National. Would prefer solo and dedicated or regional dry van or reefer. Schneider had promised me 5 days out 2 days home with regional and would like something similar if possible.
Sleep study needed for Schneider will other companies need one too?

OK, I see you still have a cdl, so that's good.
Try Patriot Transport in Carol Stream.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
That whole area out there on the outskirts of Chicago. Packed full of cold storage and distribution centers. They got trucking company signs on the rest areas. One billboard advertising good money on 294

I thought Schneider did the sleep study themselves. They have their own test system. The sleep apnea testing is not required, they could never agree on numbers on who needed to be checked. Now the doctors worry about covering their butts and trucking companies. So they just send drivers for sleep test if they fit the basic number for having it. They are not suppose to even ask about sleep apnea but I guess it in that grey area of stuff
mindes Thanks this. -
Why don't you just get the sleep study done?
ncmickey, Puppage and RoadRooster Thank this. -

I know because I have had trainees coming out of Schneider that were roped in by them. $1200 cpap that you can Google and see it goes for $450 retail.
Go see your own doctor and explain the situation. You may or may not need a sleep study (I doubt it).
Then if you need a cpap, get it from him. If you dont, tell Schneider to pound sand.
Try Magnum. I run by your house all the time. No sleep study.Brettj3876 and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
