Sleep Apnea. If you have it and haven't been treated & don't have the machine, they might send you home.

not always, you can still get a 3 month card but need to be tested, there is a couple ways to test. the first way is just a simple machine you wear and have a tube that comes around and tests how you breathe when you sleep, they look at the findings and if the readings are ok they give you a longer card. if not then you have to go in for the test where they wire you up to a thousand wires and test your sleep. i have had both and passed both. i know lots of drivers that are on the machines and say they have changed their way of life, they have never felt so good after a nights sleep. if you are a bigger guy most companies will almost always have you checked with the simple test

If going to the Swift Academy you'll need a physical from a Swift approved clinic. Swift approved clinics will put a hold on you for possible sleep apnea if your body mass index (BMI) is over a certain number or your neck is over 17".
Sleep study is a snap. They hook you up to a monitor, eeg and snore sensor. You sleep as normal for about 4 hours then they hook you up to a CPAP machine and you sleep for another 4 or more hours. All the data is reviewed by a doctor and if apnea was present they figure a pressure setting and give you a script for a cpap machine. You get the machine, use it for x amount of days in a row then have the data card from the cpap printed out and give it to the physical doc showing you are apnea free. This earns you a 1 year medical card. At each renewal you just have the data card downloaded and take the data to the doc and get another 1 year card.
I am cpap dependent. I can not sleep without mine as my apnea is really bad. With cpap I sleep 10 hrs a night and wake fully restored. -

I have had sleep apnea before it had a name when I was 5'8" 164#. It's in the genes I guessjaiart Thanks this. -
I understand that slim people have SA as well, but many that arent slim have fixed the problem with diet and weight loss. Joe Rogan had the surgery on himself and he is a ripped active man.

My doc was saying the surgery is so painful after the fact. I guess they dig around back there and the recovery, since it's in your throat, takes a long time and hurts like hell. I opted not to do it. Plus it wasn't guaranteed to work. -
