Good morning guys and gals, as u can see on the title Im going crazy about this brake thing and I dont want to end up in violation, right now Im at the consignee getting unloaded so I wanna ask the question to see what to do or understand better this, I know this discussion has been posted but I dont quite seem to understand it so here it is.

    04/13/11
    16:30 On Duty (pre-trip)
    16:45 driving
    18:15 off duty
    18:45 on duty
    19:00 driving
    19:30 off duty
    21:30 driving
    21:45 Sleeper Berth

    04/14/11
06:30 On Duty (Pre trip Insp)
    07:00 Driving
    07:30 On Duty
    07:45 Off Duty

Now my question is if I take the 2 hr break does it re-start my 14hr clock or is it at the end of the 9 hr Sleeper berth time I had????

Thank you so much for your help I really need it now ...

A new 14 hour period started at 06:30 when you went on duty today. Your 14 is up at 20:30

...And you had 8.75 in the sleeper, not nine.

Yep just make sure that you log 8 consecutive hours sleeper berth during that 21:45-06:30 break. Off Duty doesn't work for the 8 hour break but is ok for the 2.

You already have more than 2 hours off duty today... Any more is just going to be wasting time. Your 14 is up at 20:30 and you won't even be able to get 11 hours of driving in at this point.

There is no requirement to take a 2 hour break. You can take nothing but 8 hour breaks if you like. However, you'll only be able to drive for 11 minus whatever time you drove prior to your last break. A ten hour break will allow you to drive a full 11.

    Drive 7

    Drive 4

    Sleep 8

    Drive 6

    Sleep 8

    Drive 5

    See the pattern?

You took 2 hours 4/13 which makes your 14 start at 6:30 4/14. Had you not taken that break yesterday you would need to take one today.
