U know I work for a company and take care of the drivers logs and TRYN to keep them in compliance- I got thrown into this job after someone up and quit with no notice and I've kinda teaching myself- I joined this forum, because insight is the key to everything in my opinion- what i know is that we have a driver that's NEVER

I was gonna say, just because you don't sleep in the truck doesn't mean you can't take lunch break or a 15 at a rest area. Those would be line 1. I have no idea why you'd log line 2 driving a day cab though. You either park the truck at the terminal and go home or park the truck in a hotel parking lot and sleep in the hotel. That's line 1 either way.
I read that technically you're supposed to log line 4 the whole time the truck is spotted on a shipper/receiver dock awaiting load/unload, unless they say "come back in 2 hrs" or something to that effect, but nobody logs that way.Last edited: Feb 7, 2012

Interesting thread. Lot of BS in it. There is NO FMCSA rule that says you have to stay in a Hotel if no sleeper. There is no rule because there is no rule that mandates a driver must sleep. I could satisfy FMCSA rules by simply sleeping in a tent. I really wish before people posted crap they would link to these so called rules.
