My 2000 379 flattop has a blown ballast for the florecent light in the bunk. Is ther an alternative to the two hundred dollar pete replacement, say LED like the new KW one?

I bought the led one for my 2000 Pete at the KW dealership. It was right around $100. Plugs right in and last forever

When mine went out in my Volvo, the Stealership wanted $200+ for a complete Light Assembly, (the fixture is Non Serviceable), so I went to a Salvage Yard instead and bought a complete Used Assembly with bulb included for $20.00.

Places like this, for example, are good to keep in mind when wanting avoid dealer/oem costs; http://www.campingworld.com/search/index.cfm?N=1094&No=0

They make an LED replacement, I've got it in my truck and it's bright.

Grote makes a light, #61371 that is the same size and same bulbs for 1/2 the cost of a Pete one. You could make it work or just use the ballast from it.
Or TRP makes an LED, #LL073105 and is only $35. It is a lot smaller than the flourescent, but brighter. You can gut the stock one and they fit inside, or you can make something to cover the bigger hole to mount it. I seen someone use a piece of aluminum diamond plate cut to fit where the old light was, then mount it to the diamond plate. It looked nice and was brighter. If you mount it inside the old housing, it's not any brighter than the stock one, the lens dulls it back down, but it looks stock that way. You can't get to the on/off switch that way either, so not a good option if you don't have the wall switch.wagasser Thanks this.
