Central what?
Central refrigerated does not have APU's, at least not on company trucks.
Marten has them.
Swift, USA, Werner, Crete, Rohel, TMC, Schneider etc do not use them. Some smaller company's use them but most large ones do not.
They just tell you not to idle the truck, or make the truck so it will not idle and tell you to suck it up.
They do not use them for several reasons.
1. initial cost.
2. no interest in driver comfort.
3. The truck will not get idled anyway if the company can do anything about it.
4. something else that can break.
5. no interest in driver comfort.

Hill Brothers has apu's and fridges with freezer, i love it!

I work for a smaller flatbed company, and they tried the APU thing, but had too many problems with them. So, the last trucks the company bought, no APUs installed. If you bring them an inverter and the wiring they want, they'll install it. If it's hot or cold, idle away.
-
Werner does have them. Most of the majors are working the APUs into their fleet.

Unless you plan to lease a truck from them you wont be getting a APU, that is unless they have recently started buying trucks with APU's. They don't allow inverters either.
These companies have APU's on Allot of there trucks, but not all of them

ya thanks i read that also but it you do the math it says "Late model Freightliner conventionals (Average equipment age 1.6 years)"
so lets see ill us the 2006 since they would be the newest and well round the 1.6 to 2years. my math would be there using mostly 2008 models now so id guess there site is prob out of date and if they still have the 2005 models there the oldest in the fleet. id most likely say all the 2003 and 2004 models are phased out being they would be 6-7 years old now.
sound about right or im reaching for straws here? sometimes i use my common sense to much to read into things but this was my way of thinking on this company -
So what size inverter would I probabl need to power a 21" led TV and ps3 at the same time?

What it says is IF you should get a '05 or '06 it WILL have an APU if its any other year it will NOT have an APU like I said UNLESS they have recently started buying trucks with APU's. As of December 2009 less then a year ago when I asked the recruiter at KLLM they said they haven't ordered trucks with APU's since '06, even for the Lease drivers if you want a APU you have to pay for it AND pay for them to install it. Thats the average all companies use that to make there fleet sound new they all have some older trucks.

You could probably get away with a small 500 or 600 watt one that plugs into your cig lighter socket. To power a fridge or microwave your gonna want at LEAST 1500 watts those ones will have to be hard wired to your battery's so ask recruiters what there policy's are. Some have size limits, some allow the cig light ones, some allow both, and some don't want ANY inverters.

I was in sams club today, they had an 800 watt inverter for less than 40 bucks, they had a microwave for less than 50.
They also have thise 5 for 9.95 cans of precooked chicken in water, they are great for a fast meal, heat em up in a paper bowl, drain off the water, mix in a little bbq sauce, they taste good and wont kill ya. not bad for less than 2 bucks a piece, Id have one of those and a spinach salad and id be good to go.
