This is like 780 volvo setup. I leave the table up downstairs all the time for sitting at while searching loads/ doing carrier packets/ eating/ watching tv/ negotiating rates with lot lizards etc and sleep upstairs even though just a solo driver.
I added a 4in memory foam mattress and that along with the purring of the ac provides a great night sleep!!

The carriers buy the cheapest possible 4" rollup mattress, a true POS. Big Truck Mattress(approx) sells their stuff for $379. Overpriced.
I use a mattress I got from a grammar school mattress sale. I don't know who they were now, but I could make a lot of money selling them to truckers for $175. Mine is 11' depth, pillow top, 36" x 80." It's called a "long twin," something like that anyway. I'd say you need at least an 8" thick mattress to be comfortable.
I'm like Cruisingalong, sleep great in the bunk. When I'm home, I have a terrific King size bed, and my wife is in there, her dog is in there (white German Shepherd) her cats come in there, all in all, it's pretty crowded. Fortunately, I'm fond of my wife, but all those participants stay home when I set out. Hmmm. I wonder if that's why I sleep better in the truck? Maybe?MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
The mattress on most sleeper cabs is a Twin XL, which means it is longer then a regular twin mattress. Tractors that run in the city and do not have sleepers in them are called Day Cabs. Drivers who drive day cabs are not real truck drivers. Sometimes those pretend drivers even pull little pup trailers. They are really cute.
Just giving them a hard time.
The mattress that issued to drivers in my opinion are just a bit better then prison issued. I got a four inch foam topper to put on top of my mattress. It is very comfortable. Of course, I like it cold so I run the AC off my Thermo Pax at full blast. You can get adjusted to anything and since I just bought that new Volvo 780 I think I will survive.postmandav, Ryan423 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
I have days where I wish, after getting off work, that I didn't have to drive 45 minutes home in heavy traffic and could just climb out of the driver's seat and fall right into the sleeper. Like others have said, some ofthe best sleep I've ever had was in the bunk of a trunkBob Dobalina and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -
I beg your pardon on day cabs not being real truckers.
I tell you this, many times I put up a plank across the seats on the Mack R in the midst of a winter storm to catch a nap an hour or however long I can get away with before another company driver knocks on my door...
Ive done and seen some of the worst offered in the Industry with a day cab much more so than sleepers.
In fact, I treat my tahoe as a potential sleeper space back there for trips. Heating and cooling are just two of the problems that can be solved. -
I like teasing the R and L drivers when they have the day cab with one little pup on the back of them. I said, "That's so cute. Did your daddy buy you that at the gift shop." For some reason they don't think it is near as funny as I do.
Indignant trucker, brsims, 91B20H8 and 3 others Thank this. -
