Hi All,
I'm am a new Trucking Student and I had a question on sleeping safely in desolate areas. Does anyone know of any devices for sale to secure the truck cab doors that do not need to be installed with tools? Also does anyone know of a Truck Cab door alarm with a pager/remote?
Thank you all,

They sell personal alarms that you pull out the tab and they scream. Maybe you could figure out a way to hook one on the door lock so, if opened, it would pull the tab? That's all I can think of.
Most often, you will be able to sleep in truck stops with lots of lighting and people around so you should be safe if you use common sense(stay away from desolate spots, stay in the lights, stay close to the buildings, etc. )

Personally, I have never worried about it. Alot of companies have the trucks keyed the same for all of the trucks. -
I know they have alarms that can go on the trailer doors
So when you are sleeping or in showering-eating it will remote you on a pager -
Roadmedic and myminpins, thanks for the replies.
I am still interested in finding out if there are any devices for sale to secure the truck cab doors that do not need to be installed with tools? Also does anyone know of a Truck Cab door alarm with a pager/remote? The names of these devices or web site links would be most appreciated
Thanks ahead of time. -
You stay at a well lit area when possible. Just dont fill in those logs until you get there and start them from where you stopped. So long as there is not a weigh station then you can start over on your time about 1 hour after you park. Learn to write and rewrite those logs. It will save your !## and will fill your wallet. -
Now as to the desolate areas. I have slept in many. I have never worried about it. I don't carry weapons or anything like that.
His description of desolate may be different than mine. I like the desert areas. Quieter. -
I suspect your brother could have gotten robbed at gunpoint at a truck stop or rest area also. Granted you probably do take higher risks staying in remote areas or areas that are less desirable and you do have to take precautions when staying or stopping in certain areas. One easy thing you can do is loop your seatbelt through the door grab if you can and fasten it shut. Carrying a weapon is handy also, not legal but handy if you park in out of the way places.

Thanks Baack for the reply.
Do you know the name of the alarm with the remote and pager?
Does anyone know of any device other than just a strap that can be used to secure the Truck Cab door and windows?
Thanks beforehand -
I prefer the more desolate areas as they are quieter. If you are worried, you can loop a rope through the door handles and tie it together, that way, the doors can not be opened from the outside.
